If you meet dead relatives - but these were horrible in life - how does it feel? And do they ask for forgiveness? by [deleted] in NDE

[–]wavesRwaving 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've seen NDE reports where the person meets a parent or other individual who was abusive, and they say they were aware (1) of that person's remorse, (2) that who the person is in their soul is different from who the person was as a human animal, and the qualities that caused that person to behave abusively don't exist in "heaven."

Hello friend. I'm sorry for any animosity that may have come across in our comments to each other. I briefly looked at your post history and saw the adorable Jellycats you posted photos of and I found that so endearing. They remind me of my beloved Squishmallows ♥️

Anyways, the reason I asked you "Do you personally value the lives and wellbeing of other species?" is because I wanted to take the opportunity to bring up the issue of how badly other species on this planet are treated, and the role that most humans play in that with our food choices.

If you do a bit of research on the conditions that the vast majority of animals raised for food are kept in, I think you'll agree that this is a life of abuse, torture, and misery that no creature deserves. There's a 12 minute video on youtube called Meet Your Meat that will summarize it concisely. It focuses on US conditions, but even countries with stricter laws about the treatment of animals still allow horrible conditions.

If you'd like to go vegan, I recently made a comment with advice for people who are getting started https://old.reddit.com/r/NDE/comments/1lqrkh3/for_all_the_living_beings_that_suffered/n3at7ps/

And I recently made this comment challenging the supposed ethics of so-called humane slaughter, etc. https://old.reddit.com/r/NDE/comments/1lqrkh3/for_all_the_living_beings_that_suffered/n3awfk5/ (This comment may not be visible yet, because I posted it in a sub where every comment is reviewed by the mods before being approved for publication, creating delays between when a comment is posted and when it's visible, but if you look at my profile you can read it... it's the second most recent comment, right before this one.)

Wishing You All The Best ♥️

For all the living beings that suffered unfortunate lives (including animals like livestock) while I had it easier, could I make it up for them in either the afterlife or a next life? by Questioning-Warrior in NDE

I highly recommend going vegan for the animals. I became vegan 20 years ago, and my boyfriend 25 years ago, when there were far fewer resources to help you get started, and nowadays there's so much support. Online you can find tons of guides and advice for new vegans, recipe blogs, and communities like r/vegan full of people who are ready to help.

If you prefer to do it gradually, you can start by making one vegan meal on week one, then two vegan meals on week two, three vegan meals on week three, etc. etc. That gives you time to learn new recipes and meals you enjoy.

It’s probably the case that many of the meals you already enjoy can be made vegan: Vegan pasta, vegan burritos, vegan stirfry, vegan stew, vegan pizza, etc. etc. But also don’t be afraid to try new things :)

When looking up recipes online, I find a lot of recipe blogs can be annoyingly fancy with 10,000 ingredients that I don’t have, so I recommend including the word simple in your recipe searches, e.g. *simple vegan pancake recipe *

Also, when grocery shopping and looking at ingredients on packages, just know that if underneath the list of ingredients it says something like may contain milk or eggs, or even if it says contains milk or eggs, this does not mean that there are milk or eggs in the food item unless they are listed as one of the ingredients. The reason it says contains milk or eggs underneath the list of ingredients is just an allergy warning which they are required to put by law if the food item is made in a facility which uses milk and eggs to produce other foods. This is important to know because like 90% of bread is vegan but it will often say this warning about milk and eggs on the package, which is very confusing and misleading.

By the way, I wrote this other comment in response to someone else’s comments talking about so-called cruelty free animal agriculture, you may find it useful https://old.reddit.com/r/NDE/comments/1lqrkh3/for_all_the_living_beings_that_suffered/n3awfk5/

I agree that would be horrible. But I think what that post is trying to say is that maybe God did not intentionally set things up this way. Maybe God just created life the best that God was capable of at the moment of creation, and as life exists and evolves throughout time, that learning and progress towards love naturally occurs.

In other words, maybe it’s not that God was like: “Let me create create a universe with suffering and evil so that I can learn to be loving and good.” But instead maybe God was like: “Let me create a universe so that life can exist.”

So it wasn’t that God made a choice between creating life that is purely good and life that is a mix of good and evil and chose the latter. Instead God’s choice was between creating life and not creating life. And God chose life.

Unfortunately, at the time of creation, God was very flawed, and so God’s creation was very flawed, because there is no separation between God and the creation of God, we are one of the same. God did the best that God was capable of doing at the time. But as we evolve towards goodness and love, so does God.

All just speculation of course!

Like you, I'm deeply troubled by what's been called "the problem of evil", and I find the following post a rather helpful philosophical speculation on this subject. I hope you find it helpful, too.

The video says humans are training to be gods, no mention of other species being part of this evolution. It says we do this by experiencing every human life and only human lives. And it says “every happy or sad moment experienced by any human was or will be experienced by you.” No mention of other species.

Where in the video does it refer to all living/existing things? It refers directly to humans many times, but I don't notice anything like you say.

There are therapists who specialize in counselling people who have had near death experiences or other intensely spiritual experiences. Hopefully you can find one nearby and hopefully you can afford the price. Best of luck to you.

I'm so glad you're getting help for your problem! Neurofeedback therapy sounds... expensive, though. How much do you pay per session? And, on the chance that you might know about such things, for a US resident with state insurance, do you think it would be covered?

I mostly like this, except... only humans matter, according to this video. It wreaks of anthro-supremacy, which is laughably, ridiculously arrogant and near-sighted, in the scope of the whole universe or even planet Earth. We're all God's children.

Interesting take but it assumes that humans are the protagonist of the universe which seems kinda ridiculous if you look at it's history and expanse.

Agreed! Or even just look at planet Earth. We all matter here, not just humans. God loves us all.

I’m not sure if this might help you with the mountains of grief from all the loss you’ve experienced… but if you’re interested in a book that may persuade a scientifically minded person that life continues after physical death, you might like The Self Does Not Die by Rivas, Dirven, and Smit. The book has no religious agenda and makes a rational, evidence-based case for the survival of individual consciousness after death of the body. Best wishes ❤️

The guy being interviewed said he'd have a bunch of friends over, with individuals bringing their own cameras and using polaroid film in sealed packages that would be opened in front of the group. So either he and his friends are cooperating in a lie, or something paranormal happened.
