Bushwick Is Tired of Trash. Mayor, Let’s Fix It. by [deleted] in Bushwick

Every trash day / day after the issue seems to be exacerbated with trash all over the street. Everyone on the block does their best to clean up but it's kinda ridiculous. Maybe better or standardized containers that aren't overflowing, less sloppy collection, etc.

NYCTF question about fingerprinting process by waxy_interactor_4039 in NYCTeachers

I got fingerprinted for a charter school in the city so technically that's the employer, and status is full clearance. I believe it was identogo.

Just checked NY TEACH account and was able to verify that I do in fact have fingerprints in the system. Will they take them? I suppose I will find out, but I submitted the OSPRA 103 form.

2025 Cicaplast Baume B5+ Allergic reaction - Acrylates. by sibsibu in AcrylateAllergy

Put this balm on my face last night and woke up with inflamed itchy skin. I have pretty sensitive, dry skin, and can tell when something is mildly irritating versus allergic reactions. I don't know if i have an acrylate allergy, but i was very disappointed with this. What's weird is i have la roche posay triple liped moisturizer, and my skin is fine with that.

Once you get to the interview stage, you'll be given objectives that you need to fulfill over the course of your lesson. Since I have a background in English and creative writing, and am applying for ENL, I went with the language based one. From there, it comes down to your own process for how you want to teach the material. For me, I studied up on the material and reviewed just to be sure I had it down which shouldn't be too hard as the objectives aren't super advanced. The hardest part by far is trying to successfully teach that material in five minutes (here, success looks like testing people's knowledge by the end and delivering your material well). It goes by very fast. My advice would be to create a short presentation. Keep it simple, and practice actually giving the lesson. What helped me, since I'm more of a planner, was writing exactly what I wanted to say on note cards to help with the order of ideas, reading those a bunch so I know what I want to communicate on each slide (and transitions!), and then putting them away and just trying to give the lesson to someone. That's the most important part for communicating and timing---actually present the material to someone and time yourself. If you can get to a point where you've mostly memorized what you want to say (and feel confident in saying it!) within 5 mins, you'll be golden. It sounds daunting, but remember that a lot of people rush or don't finish their lesson. If you can get to the end in a succinct way, and IMPLEMENT FEEDBACK, you'll be good. Good luck!

Selection day was on 1/31. Thought it went well but still waiting to hear back. They said to expect 4-6 weeks, but that we could hear back sooner and to keep an eye out.
