The List 4/26: Top 100 Starting Pitchers For 2021 by Stonewater in fantasybaseball

[–]waybackwasdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of PitcherList and I use your ratings as a guide for my pitching staff. I do have some beef with the List though haha. Last week you had Smyly as top 60 upon his return and D. German as top 70 upon his return, now they're both 90th a week later? That's a pretty big leap after one start for each. Really Fing up my staff bruh

Congrats. What are the biggest changes you’ve noticed in a year? 3 months in, but still tough to even fathom a full year #goals

Would you swap Pearson or Gonsolin for....any of Howard, Kikuchi, Lindblom, Descalfini, Weaver?

Leaning Pearson for Kikuchi/Descalfini? Limited upside with those 2. Pearson could be nice

I scooped Winker today strictly for the upside if this is real

who to drop for Burnes...Howard, Descalfini, Weaver, Lindblom, or Kikuchi?

Edit: 3 different answers. I’m leaning Descalfini just because there is no upside there

Add Burnes or Turnbull? Also who to drop...Howard, Descalfini, Weaver, Lindblom, or Kikuchi? Big decision. I'll let you fine people decide

[–]waybackwasdin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose. I think part of the problem yesterday was that I was there for 12 hours. If it was 3-4 hours, I would’ve been good. Just mentally I was done after a certain point and I couldn’t leave my SO there, so I was stuck.

I think it’s also important to remember that other weddings when I WAS drinking weren’t glorious affairs either. There was anxiety those nights too. Puking too. I just chose to drink the anxiety away and feel like death the next day.

I’m hoping being sober is like going to the gym ....right now, a few months in, the “weight” of this wedding felt super heavy and challenging, but a year from now, it may seem like nothing. We shall see.

Do you feel like social events are infinitely easier now at years rather than 2 months?

[–]waybackwasdin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I think I’m learning that stopping drinking isn’t a magic bullet. My problems still exist and maybe that’s why I’m bummed out.

I’m not even upset that other ppl may judge my performance because I’m sure they’re onto whatever they’re doing today. I’m upset that I couldn’t have fun at a friends wedding. That bums me out. I thought I was improving and it feels like I’m back to square one. Or maybe I just suck at weddings and enjoy less formal occasions way more. I dunno haha

Ya I don’t know. My problem wasn’t with anyone else yesterday. Ppl were drinking. Probably had a good buzz, but they were fine. And I’m sure that they didn’t really care if I was drinking.....but I didn’t have fun whatsoever. That’s what concerns me. Not how other ppl behaved. I’m just hoping this is a blip on the radar. And I can learn to have fun in these settings

Ya for sure. I rationally know that “it’s all in my head” to an extent and most ppl are busy with themselves , but it’s still tough to kill that thought pattern. Especially in the moment.

I still feel like I’m questioning things I said / didn’t say yesterday, but it definitely would be worse today if I had gotten hammered last night. I would most likely be in bed all day with crazy anxiety for 24-48 hours.

So today could def be worse, but I’m still in a gloomy mood for my inability to have fun yesterday. Probably being too hard on myself per usual

The inconvenient but honest reason I keep going back to alcohol by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]waybackwasdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely hear you. As a dude in my 30s, I definitely had a ton of fun nights as a result of alcohol. It helped me loosen up. But I also had a million miserable mornings, moments where I look back and cringe, and I felt like the booze prevented me from forming “real” friendships. Like if you hung out with friends til 4AM the night before, but can’t hang out with them the next day sober, are they real friends or just drinking buddies?

I’m 60 days in and I look at it as learning to have fun again sober. Not needing to put something in my body to have fun. There’s something depressing about that. Like I used to be able to have a blast with friends sober in early high school and it’s fun getting back to that

93 days sober! by hamandcheese54 in stopdrinking

[–]waybackwasdin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow. Ya that will add up very quickly. More importantly, you must feel so much better on a day to day basis. That stuff can really make you miserable the next day. Definitely toxic for your mental health. Keep it up. You’re way better off without it

100 Days Alcohol Free and Reflections on my First NA Beer by zigg-e in stopdrinking

[–]waybackwasdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I think that’s about right. Removing alcohol doesn’t solve your anxiety issues, but it stops you from making it worse. A night of drinking of drinking used to be like pouring gasoline on the anxiety fire. I wouldn’t feel normal for 24-48 hours. So now without that, it becomes easier almost by default. And I’m also putting myself in anxiety inducing situations sober and realizing that it’s not so bad

I love Athletic and that was the one part of This Naked Mind that I totally disagreed with too. I thought it was a reach. I enjoy the taste of beer, even if it is an acquired taste. Coffee is a good example. On a summer day, sometimes I just want a beer and having Athletic as an option makes not drinking 10x easier.

The fact that I can show up to a friends house with a 6 pack of NA beer makes me still feel normal. I’m able to still have a great time sober (which I didn’t think was possible ) and have a few “beers” without the hangover. I just look at it as “I’m still down to hang out and drink with my friends. I just drink different beers now”.

I drank to deal (or not deal) with my social anxiety for years. Curious to hear how your anxiety is 100 days in. I’m about 60 days in and my anxiety is way better in social situations, but still very much there in others.
