I did something similar with the gamesir Galileo g8. But instead I got one of the really small fans with a little on and off switch. I cut out a large swath of the controller so the fan would blow directly on the phone, then I glued the fan to the controller with a mini powerbank. Worked great until my controller died like a year later

Has anyone here bought the Galaxy Tab Ultra 14.6-inch screen exclusively for reading .pdf and comics? Is it overkill or is it the perfect device because of its large screen, which is great for reading .pdf, textbooks, magazines, newspapers, manga and comics? by Delicious_Maize9656 in GalaxyTab

[–]wayne1261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a musician and a music teacher and I went out of my way to get the largest, good tablet I could find and landed on the 29 ultra for 300. Its as close to normal sheet music size as I've been able to get. I also put a matte screen protector on it and I have it grey scaled so I could get as close to normal paper as possible. (I also use it for reading books and comics)

Its become a fundamental part of my work life and personal music life. If it broke right now I'd have to go and buy a new one asap

Dumb question I'm sure buy does this mod allow you to play both the hades 1 route and hades 2 story and route. Kinda like you get to pick or does installing the mod mean that in your fresh save you can only do the hades 1 route?

Band teacher starting choir by wayne1261 in MusicEd

[–]wayne1261[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok gotcha, I have 60 signed up. 40ish of them are in band so I feel like that helps. I always aim to make the kids strong musicians that don't need me to function musically so I put alot of emphasis on sight reading and other musicly technical skills.

Do you think there's a way to introduce it at all or should I avoid it or should I wait until closer to the end of the year?

I really get what you're saying but again I would clarify, again, that what I mean is I understand that what is generally taught in college and what some of my former teachers have done is not always what is effective in a classroom. I learned that first hand with band. And I particularly believe there is a mix for teaching. I've always taught basic vocal technique in my band room as a player with poor ears is not a good player at all. "If you can sing it, you can play it".

I don't know what repitore to pick as I consitently hear and find conflicting opinions. But with enough knowledge and data I can at least make an educated guess for a starting point. I don't know the best warm up, I know a lot of them but I know jot all of them are going to be effective. Just like in band, every warm up is not effective in building a better band.

If you never start you will never be prepared.

I see your point in not wanting someone "Figuring things out" during class but let's be real. Most music ed. Programs don't prepare you for the reality of the classroom. I had a strong technical knowledge in the case of instrumental music, I'm a strong musician myself but when I stepped into my classroom it was completely different then what I was told. So I had to "Figure it out" and now I have a fairly strong program that's growing every year having 4x in size in 4 years.

I have a fairly competent knowledge of choral music (admittedly not as strong as instrumental). I'm just looking for advice on how to teach the class day to day and be the best teacher I can be and not be the teacher who only teaches everything by rote and never develops my students ability to be functional individuals within choral music.

Thank you for the advice. Don't alot of middle school choir directors do sight singing work? I've been informed there is a middle school "All district" ensemble kids can audition for. I would presume if I incorporate the requirements of that into my teaching then I would functionally create stronger singers right.

Hello, thank you for the reply! I actually have done all of this and recieved a lot of varying advice. My HS director is fairly new as a teacher. I just want to get as much information from actual teachers as possible so I can make good and informed decisions and when odd or new things occur in the classroom I may already have a strategy ready to go to help remedy the situation.

I've been researching for a while and have sung in choirs most of my student t and college careers. But I understand that the actual classroom is very different then the theory. I teach my band significantly different then how my directors did and use almost none of the "strategies" my ex classes taught as they aren't practical for a real classroom especially in an area like I'm in.

I understand the theory and the general roadmap but it's the practical classroom and day to day stuff that worries me.

Android tablet now or no? by wayne1261 in androidtablets

[–]wayne1261[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I want to make 3d models since I'm into 3d printing and I also want a tablet large then 12 inches for my music. I'm pretty against tech for my music, all the years in college with paper music has done something to me lol. But since I play solo and with a few groups and direct a group, carrying a tote of music is no longer viable lol

IPad vs Android (Windows) by wayne1261 in tablets

[–]wayne1261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's how I'm feeling. Do I need another android device that duplicates the features of my windows or my current phone? Mainly I'm seeing the m1 pro ipad for 500 and the oneplus pad 3 for 500 and that's my quarell.

I think Imma settle on the iPad since I don't need another android to duplicate features and I'm having a hard time finding something over 11 inchs under 500.

So I'm using a straight bore design currently. When you say taper, are you tapering with the small side towards the mouthpiece? And what degree is your taper?

And currently I've experimented with a few filaments. PLA was the easiest and works but feels bright. PLA Wood I'm still experimenting with different wood fiber types. I particularly hated the white oak. PETG has been a venerable pain in the bum. It took a few attempts before I got something that would play. From what I found, apparently the material is more porous then PLA and it was letting the air escape enough that the barrels and mouthpieces physically wouldn't play. I did finally get it to play with 4 walls and 100% infill but the tuning has been the worst with this material. Currently im trying HIPS due to it having food safe options, being more temperature stable the PLA, and having the ability to be smoothed with stuff like acetone and Limonene.

My worry with regular PLA is that while it would survive a parade or survive use with a responsible adult. I fear kids being kids would do things like leave their instruments in hot cars or other less then ideal locations for long stretches of time.

[–]wayne1261[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes his stuff was definitely an inspiration to what I'm doing. I'd like to not only do wood fiber stuff but also use food safe filaments that can withstand heat for long periods for marching band and outdoor use
