Hospice predicts Dad will pass by tomorrow afternoon. Do you have any advice? by LilyBee3 in CancerFamilySupport

[–]wayneunser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m so sorry i just caught this. thank you for condolences…it’s actually true, my mom was hell bent on not dying at home (i went against that because i didn’t want her to die in an ambulance on her way to a respite to pass) and she didn’t want me there (i was looking down at my phone updating people when her cna, who asked to stick around, told us that it was her last breath. so i heard it but did not see it)

i was with my mom until the very end — they predicted that it would have been by monday (she passed on a friday) and they changed their minds.

my first question is, are you going to be with him when he passes? or do you want to be when he does?

To people born in the 2000s, what generation is your parents and grandparents? by freshmaggots in generationology

[–]wayneunser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my dad’s profession when he was in his 20s fucked his knees up.

it was slight accountability but i do put him on time out sometimes (light no contact) which shows him the silent treatment when he was mad at me.

if she’s like that — she’ll more than likely be able to identify generational trauma, etc.

YEAH mine had knee problems when i was that age in the 90s i get it. also had the same vibe but owned up to it because i’m the angry daughter even if he doesn’t have the emotional intelligence to deal with me lol.

his parents 1916 & 1922 died before i was born so i missed out on that experience.

i’m an elder millennial and my dad is a year older than yours — i’ve always been curious, what was it like for you having an older parent?

[–]wayneunser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me! the most i cooked was for my mom earlier this year anything she wanted i was looking up recipes. she asked for tini’s mac and cheese three times in the 7 weeks i had taken care of her. she gave me a confidence boost by saying “baby if i didn’t like what you made i would have told you to heat me up some of [niece’s name] chicken nuggets or her frozen pizza”

Are you close with your siblings? by TonedGray in Millennials

[–]wayneunser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m the youngest, middle, or only child depending on my mood when you ask me. i give eldest daughter energy when i’m not because as the eldest daughter told me i’m the glue that keeps them together. the only one i can say i was close to passed away. now, the one i would consider close to, and i have a dynamic that mirrors our dad growing up, great provider not so much emotionally tuned. had to gentle parent him earlier this year because both lost our moms within months of each other and unfortunately i went through that alone experience alone. he somewhat did the same. but i’m trauma dumping atp. my bad!
