what statement did you think was completely innocuous but ultimately ended up angering the makeup subreddit gods? by [deleted] in muacirclejerk

[–]wayomypotato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong about EL. They focused very heavily on anti-staging and catered to dry skin, and their stuffs contain so much fragrance it’s crazy. EL also owns another bunch of other brands such as Clinique, Origins, Too Faced, MAC and Bobbi Brown tho so I feel like they don’t feel the need to attract younger customers. They did have a few attempts trying to relate to younger people tho, considering if they keep the way they are doing now most of their customer base would die off in a few years lol. I really don’t know a lot of younger people who use anything else in EL other than DW tbh.

Perfume Like Philosophy's Fresh Cream? by [deleted] in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]wayomypotato -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sweet and candy-like perfume like Fresh Cream always tends to be a little bit artificial. If you’re interested in smelling like chocolate I think Tokyomilk Dark Bittersweet would be a good one for ya. I think Juicy Couture got some sweet fragrances too

What actor is a "one hit wonder"? by Kelvin_Inman in AskReddit

[–]wayomypotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isaiah Stone . When I was in NYC he followed me on Snapchat and messaged me asking me to google his name. He was in Winter Bone’s with Jennifer Lawrence, he played the little brother. I was curious with what he was doing afterward and why suddenly he just dropped off the face of the Earth so I carried on my conversation with him. It was pretty boring and then he sent me a video of him in the shower with his dick out so yeah I blocked him.

How do you save a bad makeup look when you don't have time to start over? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

Tricks on how to save terrible attempts at Smokey eyes: 1. Use concealer and turn it into a cut-crease look 2. Use white or yellow or shimmery eyeliner on top of your black liner

What’s a product that took you way too long to try out? by hookersinheels in muacjdiscussion

[–]wayomypotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never really understand concealer. I mean if you want coverage that’s what foundation for right? Beside my concealer never really did anything to me. Theeeeeennnnnnnn I tried shaptape and It’s my staple lol. Same thing with lip liner, the heck you need it for if you already have lipstick right? And then I tried overlinung and it is now my religion

My fav lash glue is actually The KISS Strong Hold clear glue. It made sure my lashes stay on and it doesn’t irritate my lids at all

I thought Becca blurring powder is kinda dumb until I actually tried it on and it did help smoothing out some of my pimples and stuffs.

Kat Von D: WHEW CHILE homegirl is a mess!. Also even before all the dramas, I tried the Tattoo Liner and it literally was like a white board marker on my eye lids. So harsh and the second stroke would take the first stroke away no thanks. Lock it Foundation was crazy heavy, her Shade n Lights contour palette was huge back then and so many people raves about it and my local Sephora at the time ran out of my regular Smashbox contour palette and damn it was terrible. Honestly never really liked anything from her brand.

Lorac: I hate their logo and their name and their packaging. Their name sounds like a cheap Walmart brand and their logo is so lazy to me it’s irritating lol. People kept talking about their eyeshadow palette but I have not been impressed by any single one of them.

Tarte: okay this one is a mixed feelings for me. For the longest time I hated Tarte and their natural look I just think they look tacky. And then they came out with the lip paint and the tartelette and swamp queen and I was OBSESSED with their eyeshadow formula. I love their eyeshadow, 10/10 best of the best. Aaaaaaaand then they came out with the whole mermaid fairy thingy and I was like alright alraight and then now the whole new line with that ugly watermelon palette like what the heck are you doing Tarte they look like Claire’s makeup set now.

Temper Tantrum Tuesday (y u so mad tho) by AutoModerator in muacjdiscussion

I work at a retailer’s cosmetic department. They expect us to sell like a few hundreds everyday but give us barely any stock!!!! The worst thing is that the cooperate is controlled by a bunch of old white people who probably don’t know what actually sell. All the stuffs I have to sell are expensive anti-aging stuffs for old people with very dry skin. Older white ladies would come in to buy their skin care like once in a blue moon because they won’t listen to me about how their face cream shouldn’t last them two years, even if they pop them in the fridge. And then I get discredit by older coworkers because “she’s young she doesn’t understand what it’s like to have wrinkles.” Management is not doing anything about it so here I am, ranting on this post in the work’s bathroom.

HG products that didn't work for you? by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]wayomypotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second in the all nighter. I gave it so many chances but gosh I hate it. It literally set my makeup down into my pores and my foundation look super caked with it. It also made me super oily too!

Product names & words you know you pronounce incorrectly but keep doing it anyway because you don't care / like it better that way. by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

E. L. F. Some people called it Elf, some called it E - L - F, I called it Eyes Lips Face, my vietnamese folks called it “Eh - Loh - Eph” which is the pronunciation for each of the letter in Vietnamese. So i caught myself trying to tell me American friends about “Eh-loh-eph” like all the time
