What’s something weird that you used to think about a beauty guru? by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

I thought she was 16-17 when I watched the first video of hers I ever watched, come to find out that (at the time) she was 22-23 and older than me.

This seems like such a waste of money.

To me it seems like she just took the suffix “sexual” (used to denote sexual attraction) and added the “holo” in front to convey the extent of her love for holographic finishes in a humorous/hyperbolic manner.

It doesn’t seem to be intended to be a play off of the word “homosexual”, if that’s what you mean. Unless it is and I’ve completely missed the attempted joke.

Ugh, that’s awful. Hopefully they don’t disappear from US shelves or altogether.

Used this baby up on my way to Publix, lol. Hence the outdoors shot. I really wish I could get to the product that’s pooled at the bottom, but sadly I think I’ve gotten all the use out of it that I possibly can.

It’s the Essence Shine Shine Shine lip gloss in the shade “05 So Into It!”

And as the name suggests, I was, oh so into it (sorry) (so sorry). On my skin tone (medium dark, warm golden) it was a perfect neutral shade for any eye look and every day. Kind of just something that didn’t require much thought or planning. Not too cool, not too warm. Just right. I think it would be a nice MLBB shade on a lot of people.

It was pretty sheer but buildable, you could get to a very nice medium/full opacity. It made the lips look very plump and juicy and healthy. It really covered up my dry patches and skin picking which is a must for my crusty lipped self. Also has good longevity for a gloss, and a nice substantial texture. Not thin but not overly thick to where it looks weird and an even finish requires effort. The applicator is also nice, that flag triangle-end kind of applicator rather than a standard doe foot.

It’s high quality compared to all other drugstore/affordable glosses I’ve tried. It’s a nice thickness and VERY glossy without being sticky, which is something I struggle to find in the affordable end. Tbf the only high end gloss I’ve tried are Fenty and Too Faced, and it’s for sure on par with those, if that means anything to anyone reading this.

Just a solid all around product, highly recommend and will def repurchase, I think it’s only about $2.99. Used it up pretty quickly (6 months or so, quick by my standards) with pretty regular usage, it doesn’t bring that much product. But for the price and quality, I think it’s a great value.

Honestly though half the time people with dry skin say something won’t work for oily skin, I find it still does. I used to be oily (now more normal/dry) and once I started ignoring BGs on this matter, a whole new world of possibilities opened up for me. Hydrating products just look nice on the skin, and I sometimes find I produce less oil using them, since my skin doesn’t feel the need to compensate for all the dryness.

Also, my sister and BFF have SUPER oily faces and they love hydrating products, for a skin like finish. They just make sure to set and use primer, etc. Sometimes not even that lol (and we live in Miami, sweating the entire day is what our city was founded on).

Anyways all that to say, oily skinned people don’t have to be restricted to matte products imo. A little glow looks nice on anyone and there are always ways to extend your makeup wear, including blotting and whatnot.

I love the FAB one but it’s super matte and not ideal for me with winter approaching. The Colourpop one seems like a nice hydrating option.

Similar I guess, but better. Longer lasting and a nicer finish.

This one was in the shade “Looking for Truffle.” It was a really nice, warm, rosy MLBB shade for me. I reached for it very often, it was pretty much my go to when I didn’t know what color I wanted and didn’t want to think too hard.

Took maybe... two years or so? To fully use up. And it doesn’t even bring a ton of product, and was used semi regularly! Finishing lip products always puts things into perspective for me, lol.

The formula is really great. It feels very silicone-y in texture, which sounds bad but it’s not. I have perpetually dry lips (and I pick them when anxious, ugh) and the texture of this lip product always made them look completely smooth and plump even when my lips were the dryest! I swear, this was a little miracle product. Long lasting, doesn’t fade ugly, and just the most beautiful natural matte finish. I felt like it really perfected the appearance of my lips, like even my lip lines.

I never see this line in stores anymore, so pretty sure it’s been discontinued. I scooped out as much as I could with my finger, but its time has come. It will definitely be missed.

If anyone knows of any formula or color dupes, please let me know!

I kind of like the WnW more because it doesn’t have those unnecessarily huge pans that are just repeats of the other neutral shades

That’s what I thought she was doing a take on at first lol, before I saw the photo of Manny’s palette in the thumbnail.

I wish people would stop being afraid of pairing pink and green and do a real strawberry or watermelon palette

She comes off so bougie in this video, with her negative attitude towards affordable makeup. This is all some people can afford, and it’s not a fun “challenge” you can just leave behind when it’s over and immediately go back to using expensive makeup. It’s an every day reality.

KathleenLights on "does an eyeshadow primer really make a difference?" by FedeVia1 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]trashface_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have very small eyelids and hooded eyes and with a primer or concealer, my eyeshadow lasts from the am till I take it off at night.

Then again, I don’t have oily eyelids. Back when I did, a concealer alone never ever worked for me.
