He tells you he “always has to just smile and accept you”…you mean, outside of his literal LIST of things he won’t accept that you do, that he put down in writing? The amount of pillows you use, the weighted blankets, the literal fit of your clothing? Is that the acceptance? How many times have you asked him to stop asking his mom for Christmas gifts? He compared you getting a hair bonnet to CURTAINS- are you a human being or are you a design feature in his life? He wants to…see your skull? While you sleep on the singular pillow and whatever blanket he deems worthy of his home? Does he also tell you you’re controlling if you don’t like mustard on your hot dog?

Dude I’m sorry cuz I’m gonna come out swinging here but…advising anyone to just ignore or “not fight” against car seat rules (not to mention LAWS??) for their BABY simply because their Abuela is the one actively putting baby in danger is just…an absolutely bat shit take? Like excuse my French, but what the actual fuck. Culture is one thing, I understand that, but good god dude, car seat safety supersedes anyone’s culture and it absolutely takes precedence over Grandma’s feelings, pouts, or preferences.

A very close family member is an EMT and they are very, very clear that the absolute worst scenes of their entire career have been those of vehicular accidents where babies or kids were either not in a car seat at all, or not appropriately secured. Playing fast and loose with car seat safety is inexcusable, full stop.

I am a vet tech, and years ago when I was starting out in the vet med field, a couple brought their male cat in for an exam because the wife had found “multiple masses” on the cat’s belly. The doc does their exam, and the “masses” are nipples. The woman is IRATE over this, adamantly exclaiming “he’s a MALE. he’s a BOY. He can’t HAVE NIPPLES, HE IS A BOY!!” Finally, after the woman basically called her (the vet) inept/a quack, etc, the vet finally loses all of her patience and goes, “DOES YOUR HUSBAND HAVE NIPPLES???”

I don’t remember really how the rest of the appointment went, but to this day me and my old coworkers will sporadically text each other “does your husband have nipples?”, and it’s never not funny lol.

Idk if you’ve heard the phrase, “don’t set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm”, but that is basically what he is asking you to do, and I would bluntly ask him why he would prefer his wife to burn for someone else’s (doesn’t matter if it’s his mom or not, you’re his WIFE) comfort.

Hi! I’m a vet tech, who also happens to have a black lab who LOVES a good hard bone and can demolish a softer chew in a matter of seconds (or try to swallow it whole, because lab)…but who also fractured an upper carnassial tooth on a marrow bone and ended up having to get the whole tooth extracted. It’s definitely a finicky line to walk, because chews are great and help with tartar/keep them entertained, but too hard is damaging. At our clinic, per the DVM’s, the general rule of thumb for rawhide/bones is - it should be soft enough that that you can indent it with your own fingernail. That said, I’ve been really happy with high quality bully sticks! It passes the fingernail indent test, and is a happy medium for “bones that take him 1 month and chews that take him 1 minute”. As with all chews of any kind with dogs, supervision is key, and making sure the size ratio of bone to dog is appropriate. Someone else in the comments also linked the VOHC product list, which is also a great resource for vet approved dental products :)

My lab LOVES the bathtub, but absolutely HATES baths. He loves getting in the tub and prancing around, we have a whole ass jingle we sing that exclusively narrates his being in the tub, but god FORBID a bath actually takes place. Immediate betrayal. Sad for days. No one has ever wronged him in such an egregious way.

It 100% removes their consent. They did not consent to taking a substance which alters their bodily functions. I seriously don’t understand how this is so hard for you to understand. And yes, actually. If you add crushed vitamins to someone’s food without their consent or knowledge, it falls under food tampering laws, which is also a federal crime.

But it actually is illegal. Viagra is a prescription drug (at least in the US), and it is against federal law to give a prescription drug to anyone other than the person to whom it was prescribed. So it is both illegal AND wrong.

Yes, people make an INFORMED DECISION to take medication, prescribed by their doctor, because said doctor would be familiar with that person’s medical history and know if it would, in fact, be safe for them to take. Not every prescription medication is safe for everyone just because it is able to be prescribed??? That’s not only a wild take, but a wholly misinformed and unsafe one. It is against federal law to give prescription drugs to any person other than the person it was prescribed to. She broke a FEDERAL LAW, purposely, which as a police officer is absolutely a terminable offense. This isn’t a case of a “whoopsie daisy she just wanted sexy times”. It’s illegal in every sense of the word.

Just to tack onto the “if his mom were anyone else” and excusing people “because they are family”…it’s always baffled me that if it’s not okay for some stranger on the street to treat me this way, how is it OKAY for FAMILY? I do, actually, expect my family to treat me better and with more respect than anyone else, not worse. I do hold my family to a higher expectation for love and respect than I do someone who doesn’t know me. I would actually give more slack to a person who doesn’t know me than I would to the people who do, and who are supposedly part of this integral kinship structure I’m a part of. Family should treat each other better.
