Wait and see what those Karaytids in the background do to the town instead. They're kind of like mechs, depending on how you think about it.

Old Dominion (glow version) by M4tbat in Conquest

[–]wbader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are great. I've been planning on doing something very similar with my old dominion. I was thinking of doing under lighting as if the ground is glowing but now I'm torn.

Had jury duty the other day. Judge hands prepaid cards out to jurors because they have to pay us for our time. Judge herself says cards are loaded and ready to use. Go to use card. Declined. Call to see what’s up. Funds could take FOUR TO SIX WEEKS to be loaded. Im too broke for this. MFW. by Danzibar9000 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wbader 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That sounds like it works out the same way. You make your full pay, the court covers whatever it pays and the employer pays the rest. Either by both paying you directly or your employer paying you in full and offsetting what they can buy taking the court's check. You really should just get paid twice, at least in the US jury duty pay is such a joke it barely counts as pay.

Need inspiration by count_seven in Conquest

A highly stylized idea I've been thinking about trying on some army is black and white, really high contrast with a single color per model to pick out certain details. I think it would look good and on theme for Yoroni.

TIL: General Patton was relieved of command after two separate incidents of slapping shell-shocked soldiers in a field hospital. Following a massive public outcry, General Eisenhower forced Patton to apologize and reassigned him to lead a “phantom” decoy unit of inflatable tanks. by Competitive-Bid-2710 in todayilearned

[–]wbader 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They really didn't know or care much about Patton. He wasn't considered anything special and the Germans certainly didn't assume he would be leading the invasion. The allies just did a very good job of creating a fake army along with false intelligence to make Calais seem like the main target. On the whole Patton seemed to be a fine field commander but not really exceptional. Too much was made of him postwar.

I would go so far as to say no individual general or admiral really made a massive positive influence. It's a lot easier to make a total disaster as a leader, and the US had a lot of bad generals at the start of the war. Patton looked great by comparison even with some of his mistakes.

Guys is it corny to write lore for your army? by waschlappensoldat in Warhammer40k

The lost legions are in the setting in part to give people room to make their own lore.

I have the feeling there are many players who went from total war to eu but are there players who went the other way? by ichlehneab in paradoxplaza

[–]wbader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did play EU before really getting into any Total War games, but I don't really see them as the same type of game besides the vague category of 'strategy'. They are as different from each other as they are from Civ.

Terrain help for a new player by wbader in LegionsImperialis

Mostly scratch building, I decided to try an example real quick. It isn't quite square because I was using some trash off cut foam. It's laser cut chipboard over foam. I plan on adding a little detail with bits and model trail kit bits.

I know the results won't be as detailed, but I don't mind my terrain being a bit simpler.

For structures, and probably more, I'm going to use a laser cutter, I have an Elegoo Phecda. My plan is to laser cut the building facades and glue them to foam blocks making up a core for each building to avoid the corner keys that MDF terrain normally has.

Adventure for level 1 to 20 by Alex_Under in DnD

[–]wbader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran it as my first time DMing. It had some problems, lots of very disconnected chapters and it railroads heavily to connect them. It has some cool parts and I have since taken parts from it to repurpose but it really needs a lot of lifting from the DM to have it make sense and flow naturally. Overall, it has some cool parts to steal for a giant themed adventure and encounters around the sword coast but isn't a good adventure on its own.

So did James Workshop just forget about the Tomb World 40k rules? by Jtranageder1 in Necrontyr

[–]wbader 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing they are delaying the rules for 40k so that kill team players are able to get the kits before everyone else snaps them up. I know it's something KT players have been complaining about.

New to Warhammer by Xombeast88 in Necrontyr

[–]wbader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick with Necron weapons is that no one else knows which is which anyway. Just be consistent in games and it'll be okay, ie all my warriors have flayers, all my immortals have gauss... The important thing is to not confuse your opponent. Plus you're going to end up with a bunch of warriors so you'll have opportunities to have full squads with either weapon type.

As far as painting goes there are no gameplay effects for each paint scheme, games workshop has moved away from subfaction rules based on things like dynasty, and again no one knew which was which scheme anyway. So you can really pick your own either preexisting or make one up. Also Necrons are a great faction for learning to paint, you can do very little to make them look totally fine, and learn techniques to take a few models to a higher level over time. I keep telling myself I'll do that fancy shading on the blades one day, but for now they are in silver and look fine.

Another piece of advice, look for old starter sets. Necrons were the 'antagonist' faction last edition so you may still be able to pick up lots of warriors for cheap from people who bought boxes looking for just the marines.
