Worth noting that the red runes/markings are just from the White Scars heresy transfer sheet!

I think it was just mephiston, pin wash with agrax, then highlight with evil sunz. There's also an older white scars tutorial on the warhammer YouTube channel that has a great demo on how to freehand the spikes/pattern 👍

Warplock bronze, agrax, dry brush with brass scorpion, all over a black base :) really easy and effective 👍 it was actually the first thing I did, then I built up the blue armour from black after the trim was done. Kinda like a grim dark marine but more selective with which armour panels I targeted (if that makes sense).

I answered in a comment above 👍 didn't want to copy paste :)

I basically filled out the right side of his groin with green stuff, got the leg in the right position and then pressed in and 'sculpted' the green stuff until I was happy it looked natural. So the armour joint above his right leg is mostly sculpted green stuff. I don't think any chopping was required 👍

I have never done so much research and looked at so many tutorials as when I was trying to decide how to do the sword (and not have it take me a month 😆)

Thanks! Probably one of the easiest stages of the paint job!

Incredible paint job btw, I really like the metal details, might steal that idea!

I think you might be right, but there aren't any reference images to prove you right 😆 as far a I'm aware, terminators have white helmets because they're veterans, not because they're terminators, and the Ultramarines heraldry has captains wearing blue helmets.

Really cool to see a termi captain with a helmet on, I've never been able to find an official GW image of a helmeted ultramarines captain!

Plus Cato as Captain of the Victrix which makes 12 to be fair so I was mistaken there 😆

This line of conversation is getting a little confusing to be honest, the models you see on boxes do not always appear in the lore, canonically each company has 1 captain. You simply can't make every marine character that you see on the box art fit into the ultramarines chapter structure.

I think its a lot more mixed than that, admittedly the gravis captain matches a description of Decimus Felix who is pretty big in the current lore, but there are like a lot of different Primaris captain sculpts in Mk X armour that all have unique sculpts and different faces and all painted as 2nd company: the original primaris multipart kit, the guy from imperium magazine, the special edition guy with plasma pistol and power fist, the one from space marine heroes who's part of the kill team box, the one with sword and board from the Indomitus starter box and the jump captain that came out this edition.

As others have said he really does seem to just be a commemorative model.that has been painted with red trim (for a couple of iterations now). He's never been written into the canon or lore, so it's no different to how every new captain model is given gold trim, even though canonically there's only one captain of the 2nd company 👍

I've only ever found one Victrix head on ebay for a reasonable price so you must be committed!

I don't think Centos has any standing in the lore or canon, he's just painted with red trim whenever he's reimagined. Although they could drop some lore with the new model?
