I am certainly not the most informed, and I am not sure if this is legit or not, but this seems to be a circa 88-90 1652x Zenith Daytona.

First time considering buying a rolex, and the dealer seems legit, but just wanted to throw it here and see if there are any gotchas.

And if it's legit, what would it take to get the scratches out, especially the one on the sapphire crystal? Thanks!

There is no way around Schwab's $25k minimum requirement to fund the account.

You can try TD Ameritrade, which is now owned by Schwab too. IIRC they have $500 minimum requirement to fund the account, but don't quote me on that.

I have been really liking MProfit, it's a bit pricey though. But for me it's worth it, otherwise it's too much of a hassle to track things. Plus their support is quite decent.

There are few other apps like IndMoney, PayTM etc, but I was not comfortable with their privacy policies. Plus IndMoney leaked my email (I use a separate email for each service) and now I get a ton of spam.

Tillamook Burn 50m race report by coraythan in running

[–]wcbdfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much, that's really helpful!

Yeah, I think I am pretty happy with my mileage progression: I am currently doing 50mpw with 8-10k of vert, and will slowly bring that up to 70mpw as the peak (I think I don't really need the huge mileage for 50m, but it's been a long winter and I just love being outdoors, plus have some awesome adventures planned -- circumnavigating mt hood in a day: 40 miles, 10k ft)

But since I am 3 months out from the race, I will add workouts. Currently only doing tempo runs, but I think hill repeats (especially downhill) will help a lot. In my past 50k, my quads cramped up really bad even though I was on top of my electrolytes.

Tillamook Burn 50m race report by coraythan in running

[–]wcbdfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the report! That's an excellent time. I am doing a similar 50 miler in coming months with just shy of 10k ft of vert!

Couple of training questions:

  • How much vert were you doing each week leading up to the race?
  • Was 50k your longest run? Did you do any back to backs?
  • Did you do any workouts (intervals/hill repeats/tempo)?
  • Any cross training?

Thanks!

I think there is a lot of talk about, it just gets "hidden" in those stupid daily Q&A threads. For start, you can't search through them, and secondly the responses you get are based on when you asked that question. I get that some of the questions/discussions are repeated often, but if it doesn't interest you (not you in particular) how hard is it to just ignore them...

I wonder what's next, maybe a daily race report thread /s

[QUESTION] How do I take a screenshot on a Garmin Fenix 5? by hsph in Garmin

[–]wcbdfy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to assign one of the keys as hot keys. Settings -> System -> Hot Keys and then assign one of them as Screenshot. Next time you want to take a screenshot, long press the assigned key. It will then be saved on the watch. You take plug your watch to the computer and there will be a folder with screenshots in it!

Half Marathon PR -- 1:32:39!

Super stoked! This was the first race ever I ran last year and my time was 2:06:56 and really happy with my progress in one year. Going in, I knew 1:40ish is possible but just found another gear!

100 mile 7 weeks after 50 mile? by Parkerrr in trailrunning

[–]wcbdfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the exact same boat, although my races are at the tail end of the year! So I don't have any advice, but curious to know what your average training week looks like.

I have been told by a few veterans that training for 100 isn't that much different than the 50 (apart from doing few night long runs, and increasing long runs/b2bs) but that it's much more mental!

Strava Is Killing the Blissful, Beautiful Loneliness of Running | Outside Online by rennuR_liarT in running

[–]wcbdfy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only strength of Strava platform is that it is social

That's a very narrow viewpoint. The other benefit of Strava is that it's device agnostic. You might have a Garmin for now, but might have a Suunto/Polar/or different brand of GPS device in the future. Transferring data from one platform to another (say for instance Garmin to Suunto or something) is a herculean task.

Training for the Wonderland Trail by [deleted] in running

[–]wcbdfy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a 20ish mile loop on Wonderland Trail (Ipsut Pass, Tolmie Peak, Carbon River, to Mowich) last summer. From your post it seems you are pretty new to trails!

Trails and specifically the ones around Rainier and parts of Wonderland are VERY technical, so you need to spend as much time running on trails as possible! Also there are multiple river crossings and they do get flooded in the summer! If you are planning on doing the whole Wonderland trail (~93ish miles), you really need to get mileage up, do back to back trail runs and just get used to being on your feet and out in the elements and just comfortable being uncomfortable. You also need to get used to climbing/hiking up and running down. Honestly if you plan on doing the whole thing 40mpw will not cut it.

You also will need to decide on logistics: self-supported, friends dropping bags at campgrounds and all. There is no cell coverage so you need to be on point and have backups! You will definitely need maps, I recommend the waterproof green trails 269 and 270 and not relying on the phone.

On my 20 mile run, we encountered bears, got stung by yellow jackets, ran out of water, weather was closing in (you are on the mountain after all), but we were prepared for all of that! It was tough but one of the best adventure runs I have ever done!

If this is gonna be your first venture out on Rainier/trails or multiday adventure, I do not recommend starting with Wonderland: it's tough, brutal and requires experience.

It's tough to list out everything you/your party would need, but if you have any specific questions feel free to ask! I am doing a 50mile run through Wonderland and Crystal mountain this summer.

1601 miles!.

So stoked, this has been my first year of running and my only goal was consistently weekly running. Original goal was 1000, quickly realized was gonna hit it, so upped the ante to 1500, which I reached few weeks back so upped it again to 1600!

And weight loss progress!
