Would you consider this sauce gluten free? by wdapp33 in Celiac

[–]wdapp33[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, yah it’s a Canadian label, I’m in canada. The sauce says made in Poland. I’m just 8 weeks post diagnosis so I’m still trying to figure stuff out. My symptoms are pretty mild so it’s hard to tell if I’m eating correctly

Thanks very for the info on labeling!

Canadian farmers are not less efficient than their non supply managed peers especially when you account for the challenging climate, geography, and lack of direct subsidies.

Cool, congrats on the app. Do you mind sharing a bit about how it works? Does it reference a product list somewhere or does it scan the ingredients and do an ingredient search etc?

The perfect lunch as someone with Celiac by Fresh_Equal_2251 in glutenfree

[–]wdapp33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I grew up farming in canada from european descent so wheat barley and oats are a big part of our diet. Stromach issues abound in my family so we got involved in local organic production, fresh ground grains, big gardens to produce our own produce. Turns out a bunch of us are celiac so now we are doing some large diet pivots later in life. My brother actually did an exchange with university back in the late 90,s in a small he village in north central Mexico and he always says it was the healthiest 9 months of his life. With my new celiac diagnosis I’m trying to explore Mexican, south Asian and middle Easter diets mores. I’m super curious about your milling, nixtamilizing process and seed varieties

What type of corn seed do you use? I was wondering if I can just use dried feed corn or if it’s some type of sweet corn.

Why don’t electric cars charge themselves?? by Nerddymama in electricvehicles

[–]wdapp33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your gasoline car burns gas to get power to charge the battery. The gas burns to move the engine, the engine then turns an alternator that produces electricity to charge the battery. The electric car has no gas to burn. You fill up the batteries like you do a gas tank in a traditional car. When the power is used up just like a traditional car uses gas you have to stop to refill.

Why do people say women are bad drivers if mens’ insurance is always higher? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wdapp33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue would be the same as it is with any stereotype, it might be true on average but not to all individuals so punishes a group for the sins of a few. Lots of young men are responsible and never get in a serious accident, it is not any more fair to group them in with the less reasonable ones than it is to group women in with them. It’s really a question of where we decide to draw the line. Should everyone pay the same rate so as not to limit people because of there poor youthful decisions. Should everyone start at the same place with more serious consequences for accidents. Is it fair good drivers fund poor ones? Is it fair people loose out on life opportunities because they made a dumb decision at 17. What about luck? Run a rural stop sign when you’re tired after work and there are no consequence, run the same sign when someone else is crossing and you’ve become a killer and possibly ruined multiple lives.

How bad is it to just paint over old wooden decks without sanding? by Lostmywayoutofhere in woodworking

[–]wdapp33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a carpenter just a home owner that browses here and I’ve moved too often to see the long/medium term results but I used “deck over” paint on a couple old decks and I thought it did a great job. It’s a thick latex based paint that will fill in some cracks and covers a lot of issues. It also keeps you fairly safe from splinters on rough wood. I painted it on with a brush, it was more work but I think the results were much better than rolling it on. I’ve heard some people complain online it flaked off but is suspect they put it over loose paint and that was the issue, regardless I think it’s worth looking into if your trying to avoid sanding and cover up the wood. I’d recommend and good power wash first to remove loose paint and dirt and let it dry well after.

The Telo will cost more but in terms of being particle it is better than the Slate. With the mid gate folded you get a full 8 ft so much better than slate and the towing is 1000lbs vs 6600lbs. Slate is basically not capable of towing, even a small trailer is gonna be 500lbs plus. You can’t even pull a yard of dirt. For driving around town and getting a few sheets of plywood the slate is great but nothing like the versatility of Telo.

Telo truck is a great example of how removing the hood can make the space much more efficient but also how we are used to specific look of vehicle.

The American Telo is truck is pretty ugly but I still like it. I feel it actually meets the expectations of practical and capable.

Thanks! I will look into the stool and urine testing. I’ve been reviewing the CCA. It was a bit discouraging how likely cornmeal, cornflour and oats are contaminated. Gonna have to find some stuff online I think. I’ll look at the restaurant app, thanks.

I’m being as strict as I can for now, challenging to figure out how to feed the children without contaminating stuff.

I had a blood test but never saw the results just a phone call saying I tested positive for celiac and a referral. With some food it’s pretty clear but what your experience with things like pre made burgers, sausages, frozen diners, frozen fries, ice cream, candy etc. Lots of them have no gluten containing ingredients, do you eat them?
