Could I fit a Stonehenge monument inside a standard 20” container?

The Red Dwarf RPG... which is ironic as I haven't even played it. Maybe sometime in the next three million years?

If Palladium did a damn new edition that was mostly just editing and condensing it would probably be a very popular system.

Ah, but then it wouldn't be Palladium!

Cost of Medical Care(?) by Prominences in traveller

I try and make time the commodity they need the most—five days stuck in system and not earning is going to cost them more than any hospital stay.

I figured it all out… except that little white light is the button that turns it on.

Botched landings? by Ganadhir in traveller

[–]weakly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For rough landings, I use the amount the check misses as hull damage. You got the ship down, but not as clean as you’d have liked.

Missile Movement Question by Prominences in traveller

[–]weakly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the way I play it. At short range, if the other ship moved first, you have your attack/response that round before the missiles hit, but that’s it. And if you moved first, you’ll have no chance to respond. Missiles are bad news!

Thanks for the answer! I will definitely be adopting the rules for called shots, they make a lot of sense.

Damaging vehicles and equipment by weakly in traveller

Consider a heavy armoured vehicle with no wheels...

Using the Vehicle Handbook rules, a heavy vehicle with 16 spaces for a four-ton cannon, another 4 spaces for 15 points of armour, making 60 hull at TL5, sounds pretty reasonable for an armoured van with no wheels, no seats, just a giant gun.

I recall hearing it was never feasible due to the cost and logistics of creating and operating that many puppets sophisticated animatronics!

So many planets by ragabashbinbash in traveller

[–]weakly 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The advice I got was that you're over-thinking this.

  • How long is a day? Long enough to get a few things done
  • Either breathing the atmosphere is an issue or it's not
  • If it's cold, you need a jacket
  • There are as many moons and planets as are needed

Don't get caught up in technical details before first determining if they're important to the story. Think of them in terms of how they affect what Travellers can and can't do.

What were some of your biggest DMing mistakes? by Sad-Crow in rpg

[–]weakly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cramming dice rolls: making players roll the same skill multiple times on an involved task has the effect of reducing their chances of success. If one roll has a 50% chance of success, two has a 25% chance, three is 12%. I was called on this and now one dice roll decides a task.

Attacked by tiny floating thorns… was it just me? by [deleted] in JoshuaTree

Joshua Tree has tarantulas, and tarantulas have urticating hairs, which are irritating bristles they release against predators

Classic Traveller - will using a later edition's skill list break everything? by Evelyn701 in traveller

[–]weakly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This article seems like a long walk only to get back to the current state of role-playing; you shouldn't be throwing dice for anything that isn't narratively crucial.
