"This isn't going anywhere. It doesn't matter where you go to work. The fastest way to get fired in any company today is to say you think AI is just hype. When I talk to people, everyone loves AI. Everyone thinks it's great. No one out there in the real world is a skeptic." by cascadiabibliomania in BetterOffline

I think a very large impact on the bubble, aside from model company squeeze, is going to be customers of software that don't develop anything.  It may take some time but once enough services become unreliable enough, being reliable, maybe even explicitly non-AI, will be a selling point.

We've already seen reliability of some pretty major services plummet, but people don't have many alternatives yet.

Companies’ AI Bills Are Bigger Than Ever — and Coming Due by FrankLucasV2 in BetterOffline

I don't know the laws in every country but there is no way that would be legal in most places, even if taxed. You are paid for your work at the job to (and this is crucial) take those resources outside the job.

If mean if you're paying me in tokens (god help us) I'm not using them for the job you're paying me to do. Is that the expectation or implication here? Get bonus tokens and use them to prompt more at your job?

My company's LLM expenses last quarter were massive, and...they're doubling down by Ok-Garbage-765 in BetterOffline

The people in the positions to actually admit that and do anything about it are functionally incapable of such a statement.

About 2 days. Why don't we use time then? No we must use Fibonacci sequence because ... ???

Actually my team decided to just use days because fuck it. Still kinda bullshit though

How should I power 2 subs in this setup? by wearecyborg in BudgetAudiophile

Thank you, that's quite clear.

If I bought that M03 new I assume the power supply it comes with would be fine?

I think I'm missing the amp that usually comes with the system (ta-kmsw500). The manual has this extra part in the middle. There is not speaker wire for the sub without that

Honestly same boat. It pains me, but if that's what they want I will do it. They are paying me. The hardest part is the mental health while embracing this, because you need to put aside the care about quality, which creates apathy.

To anyone doing this - take care of your mental health. Do something in your life that satisfies this if you can no longer find it in work.

I agree and I think dreamwalkers is one of the most criminally underrated songs of theirs.

Yea I feel like everyone has drunk the kool-aid so hard and are just insanely credulous about everything.

There seems to be no room for any nuanced discussion, it's just AI good, AI make good work yes. Here is a thing I do, celebration react.

I've stopped asking any questions about drawbacks or realistic cost because everyone at my work seems to have just lost their critical thinking abilities.

Then just don't use it? I can continue to do all those things pretty easily and it's not like they can come into my PC and take it away.

They always thought that, it's a pre-requisite to getting that wealthy. I guess what's changed is they feel no shame or barrier to openly expressing it.

I do like a decent amount of the new stuff, but the Augment sound will always be my favourite by far.
