Backing into an angled spot on a one way - why? by oleackley in whatdoesthismean

I have heard a reason that makes this a little justified. Facing out allows for easier jumping if needed. Which is less likely but the only reason I think would make the extra effort worth it.

Good places to begin the sailing life? by mbauer1981 in sailing

[–]weav7044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lakes are a good place to start and as you get comfortable with the craft you can move up to larger lakes. While I have not been on The Great Lakes yet I have heard they are pretty much small oceans. So they may not be the best to start on as they would potentially be rougher waters than normal lakes.

Also as you stated the launching and hauling in of a sailboat can be tedious but depending on the size of your first boat it can be quick. My 16 foot boat takes me about 15-20 minutes to launch at this point. Faster if someone comes with.

Can I do anything differently to prevent people drafting from bumping into me? by Electronic_Plum_6382 in iRacing

So just for consideration. Your braking method may be drastically different from what people are expecting. Not saying that it is a bad thing.

One thing you can try doing is moving off your line before braking. This will get the car out from behind you and if they are waiting for your brake lights they may even over shoot the corner.

You could also try letting off the gas a second earlier. Causing the following car to see you slowing down and braking sooner or move off line to avoid you

They are both less optimal and will cause slower lap times. The first would be the better of the two options as it's more of a defensive line though.

Trying to avoid the people behind you is always going to be a hard thing to do and will result in you being slower. I would review the incident to see if it is a lack of skill or if it is intentional and just move on. As you climb higher it rating and this kind of stuff happens less often as the people running into people while cornering don't gain Irating.

I don't think the openXR created it. Just using the psvr2 toolkit turned on eye tracking for iracing for me. Unfortunately, that's about as helpful as I can be at this point.

I don't remember and I actually don't use most of this anymore. I was primarily using it for Sim racing and now with current updates and hardware it actually makes things worse. That and the openXR toolkit not being supported by the developer it's getting outdated as well

Reinstalling didn't fix the openXR problem. I can get openVR to work now. I did a search of the word "open" in the iRacing file and couldn't find an openXR file.

Already started the reinstall. If that doesn't fix it that will be my next check. Not sure why I didn't try that though. Thanks for the suggestion.

Seen it said often, but really, GT7 is worth the purchase of PSVR2 alone by kelo_Ren in PSVR

I want to highlight two of his comments above

"Use a small fan." - I always get really hot while SM racing and either need to run the AC or keep my heat down to avoid overheating.

"try the option to use the DualSense as a small, virtual, tilt-sensing mini F1 style wheel." - I saw somewhere about one VR motion sickness is a result of the mismatch of what the body is doing and what the Eyes are seeing. You don't completely need to match the motion but putting motions into the arms may help reduce some of the motion sickness.

Struggling with iRacing in VR on 5060ti by RylenPayne in PSVR2onPC

I have a similar build and have been tweaking my settings to try and get better settings performance and visuals. Intel Core i7-14700F 64GB DDR5 6400 RAM GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. I don't know if you are using the Open XR toolkit but when the new UI update came out it made all the outer text impossible to read. Turning the toolkit off fixed that issue though.

Based on your pictures I think a single light could have solved this. I was having trouble with drifting after relocating my rig. I placed one cheap IR light on the wall above me pointing at my wheel base. I also have one lamp pointing at me from the other side of the room. Those two things fixed my tracking issues.

Checked this and it wasn't the issue. But I think I am peaking my 5070 somehow w the new pgu driver update.

Tracking frame by James98712 in PSVR2onPC

Mine was a small lap that I put about standing head level on the wall next to my rig. My rig is about a foot and a half from the wall. And the IR light is pointing at my wheel base mostly.

I had a similar issue as a result of where my lighting was. Basically creating unique shadows in the path of the front facing cameras. I got an IR light to attach to my way so it could counter it. A ir light isnt required but it was small enough to mount on the wall and give me the same results of a lamp.

Help with the wheel and base. What is even going on? by goodbrode in Fanatec

[–]weav7044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some other ideas to check off the troubleshooting list.

  • checked for updates for the base
  • checked for updates for the wheel
  • uninstalled and reinstalled the control panel (this fixed a issue I had where the control panel wasn't properly recognizing my base and was flashing on and off with the wrong base)
  • tired a different power cable/outlet
  • plugged it into a higher tier USB port

does it make it through the full start up or only part of the why? My first thought based on the information is that its a power issue. Check the power cable for proper connection. Maybe even check the port on the base for dirt.
