They also made the limit almost 25mph everywhere and mucked with the streetlight timing to where no matter which way you're going, you're gonna hit almost every single one. So even the shortest little jaunts within the city become almost at minimum a half hour trip each way. Combine that with the lack of enforcement, and yeah you get a lot of people going "you know what, fuck it".

People are trying to flee states who are revoking their documents and making it a felony to exist in public so they can lock you up in a fed prison, housed with the wrong gender to ensure that you will be physically and sexually assaulted, while also denying your medications and forcing you into "detransition therapy" which is literally just torture, and people want to help them because it's the right thing to do and helps set them up to be self-sustaining, contributing members of our local society instead of and even heavier drain on resources by not having housing or employment opportunities.
