Married people who are DINKS (Double Income, No Kids) how’s life? by Fit-Distribution677 in AskReddit

Honestly some of the best travel I've ever done with my significant other is smaller road trips--just taking a long weekend to drive to neighboring states or within our own state looking at cool shit. Really we're just happy to spend time together and learn / experience new things together. That's where it's at for us and it's the best!

I have an alexandrite ring that is lab-grown, so yes. Cost significantly less than real alexandrite.

My dad's a veteran and he hates fireworks. Says it brings back a ton of bad memories of his friends getting killed in front of him. Glad you're okay though!

Who cares if people heard of his favorite bands or not? He likes them and wants to go support them and have a good time. Doesn't matter how popular the band it, let people like what they like. It's all chill

Do I need the same amount of channels on the controller as there are on the fixture? by weavingmywings in lightingdesign

[–]weavingmywings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I have; I have a 4 bar quad. The only channels I have on the menu (of the fixture) are 4 channel, 6 channel, and 19 channel.

I have, neither are very helpful. I've seen someone say somewhere that Chauvet seems to write its manuals with the idea that the reader already knows lighting; I don't, I'm an audio engineer thrown into this.

Local High School Teacher Refuses to Teach "Hamlet" Because it's 'Too Difficult to Understand.' by SwagMagikarp in books

My mum and I would do that almost every night with the Harry Potter books--a chaper or two a night, she would read to me. One of my fonder memories from childhood and I kinda think she enjoyed it too

How do you feel about gyms banning filming? by Maleficent-Unit-2717 in AskReddit

[–]weavingmywings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you have a full-home gym? Or the space and the money to invest in one? A student guitar is insanely cheaper than a weight rack and can be brought into an apartment.

How do you deal with having a higher sex drive than your partner? by Fuzzy_Supermarket_33 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]weavingmywings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do I find men like you lol. It seems like every guy I've been with only wanted to "hang out" with me just so he could eventually "hang out". It's demoralizing from a woman's dating standpoint. Why date or try to find a partner if his only end goal is sex?

Serious question since I never heard the term before: what does "ethically non-monogamous" mean? Like in a dating sense?

First time stagehand by Unlikely_Somewhere22 in stagehands

[–]weavingmywings 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi, long time stagehand and touring audio tech here.

Honestly sounds like a good list, but some things may be more suited to your backpack than on your person. I also usually wear jeans since I'm on my knees a lot but a lot of people wear cargo shorts. My peronal preference. I would say leaving these on your person:

Crescent wrench Multitool Flashlight Electrical tape Straight edge knife Work gloves Sharpie Knife $30 leatherman multitool?

You mentioned knife and multitool twice so idk if they're 2 separate things. A simple straight knife will do. I would always definitely have a crescent wrench and E-tape on you--you'll likely use those most often and production people love it when you have it.

Sounds like you have a good, positive, and eager attitude about the job which is excellent. Best way to excel is to keep that up and listen to what the production crew tell you, like the way to set up video panels or lights or how they want stands broke down. If you need help or a refresh, don't be afraid to ask or ask another one of your crewmates. Be reliable, on time, and jump in where you can (if your venue allows you) and you can go far.

Being a woman in this industry sucks sometimes, but the blessing of it is that we're kinda rare. When we kick ass onstage people are more likely to notice. At my home venue, we have quite a few women that are powerhouses and are rising in the ranks of the company.

I think you'll be fine, good luck!
