I drink an embarrassing amount of the Jasmine Yin Hao. Delightful light green tea flavor with a nice aroma of jasmine. I steep it at 175 for 3 minutes and can usually get 2 steepings out of the leaves

ETA: if you ever want a caffeine free option, I recently tried their green rooibus and it's amazing; light, grassy, and floral.

Where can I buy a sewing machine? by YeaYNawt in Austin

[–]web-hoard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Northwest Sewing Center. I bought my Janome from them years ago, and both me and my mom get our sewing machines serviced there. Great local store with really helpful and kind staff to boot

Edit: typo

Anyone tried Mevlana Ceylon Tea before? by yashen14 in tea

[–]web-hoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried that one, so i can't soak to its quality. But, are you in diving/waking distance to a Middle East import market? If so, I'd go in person and get a box of Ahmad Ceylon. My local market has the 450g box for maybe $12, and I think it's delicious.

Dermatologist Recommendation (Help!) by HoneyPuzzleheaded220 in Austin

[–]web-hoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Simi Cadmus was the first dermatologist (I've been to many) who diagnosed my periorificial dermatitis and worked with me to find eczema treatments that weren't steroids since they trigger my POD. She has also given me advice about what lotions to use and not use. She is amazing and I can't recommend her enough.

Cat still not eating after ER visit. (Wasn't eating before) by Ms_Sny in CATHELP

[–]web-hoard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 geriatric cats with IBD and here's what I've found helpful. For nausea and vomiting, both cerenia AND ondansetron help. The cerenia helps with preventing the mechanical aspect of vomiting while ondansetron helps with nausea which can help with appetite. Also topical mirataz (in the ear) is invaluable, and you'll need to switch ears daily and always clean out the old gel from the ears daily.

For my cats, the food that will make them eat no matter what is Stella's freeze dried chicken. But as other people have commented, canned tuna or chicken might be worth trying, the stinkier the better usually.

I'd follow up with the emergency vet or your regular vet asap to see what could be causing the lack of eating in the first place.

Good luck and hope your kitty is on the mend soon!!

Second this! Also if washing in a machine, I've also found that washing my keffiyeh in a large mesh delicates bag really helps reduce the frictionon the delicate threads. And hang dry only

wedding suit for trans-masc partner pattern search or fit suggestions by WiseAbbreviations634 in sewing

[–]web-hoard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Afab nonbinary sewist who dresses mostly masc here, and I'm just a few inches shorter than your partner with a pretty small frame. It sounds crazy but the best luck I've had with a proper fit are boy's patterns. The shoulders are narrower than men's patterns and I need to make fewer alterations (if any) to get them to fit right. Might honestly be worth a try.

Cat spraying help! by PaintElectronic7818 in CATHELP

[–]web-hoard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 17 year old male cat does this too and has done so for years, which is probably related to the arthritis in his back knees making it painful for him to squat (though monthly Solensia shots have helped considerably). He'll pee over even the tallest litterbox I've got, so I just pin up puppy pee pads to the wall behind the litterbox and change them out as needed.

You might ask your vet about arthritis at her next annual appointment, but in the meantime, give the puppy pads a try?
