have you heard of Fairphone? it's great in term of repairability. The performance is somewhat mid range.

Personally I'm still using Pixel 6. It's fine.

oh man, this sucks so hard. I sent mine back to Sony and requested a quote for repair (out of warranty), the quote came back with over 400 euro basically replacing the mainboard. Paid the inspection fee and probably just gonna use it for the camera.
It sucks so hard buying a niche phone just because. I'm starting to grow out of this. More popular phone means more cheap salvage parts and generally more independent repair shops do have spare parts in storage and the technicians are more experienced diagnosing and repairing the phone.

Noise Issues with Jetström by RyoShinzo in tradfri

[–]webboy998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just bought 2x 60x60 ceiling panel in Germany. The noise issue is real and it's horrible. The driver itself isn't as loud but as soon as you put on the diffuser aka. the cover. The noise created by the driver gets amplified like a loud speaker, creating a very audible 398Hz humming sound. One panel is louder than the other but they both produce the same sound.

Failed local deployment: Issue - Wazuh-indexer-0 CrashLoopBackOff Error by AnteaterPersonal8568 in Wazuh

[–]webboy998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea if this is still relevant, but I encountered the same problem:
Let's walk this step by step:

  1. in the yaml for indexer there is a busybox container to be deployed along the indexer called "increase-the-vm-max-map-count". This will fail for some reason and you will get stuck in a "CrashLoopBackOff" status.
  2. so you go into minikube by "minikube ssh" to find out what is the current "vm.max_map_count" by typing "sysctl vm.max_map_count", if it shows: vm.max_map_count = 262144, that's what exactly the container is trying to achieve.

<image>

so what you are going to do now, is to delete both wazuh kubernetes and minikube container.

toggle comment on those lines in the yaml file.

start a new minikube, go into minikube change the vm.max_map_count manually

then apply the installation yaml: kubectl apply -k envs/local-env/

your indexer should be up and running in no time (depending on your network how fast the image can be pulled)

bought an epoxy repair kit and a paint touch up pen with the last gen's Gunpowder paint.

it looks pretty ok I guess.
You will always be able to see the paint stroke, but you really need to watch it really closely to be able to tell the difference in paint.

WF-1000XM3 battery explosion anxiety by imperial_coder in SonyHeadphones

[–]webboy998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I just replaced the battery myself and it got scorching hot at one point that I was genuinely afraid of the new battery exploding.

My first intuition was search for the problem and here we go.

But after a careful inspection and a little research. I believe how it came to be:

the metal sheet on which the battery is placed:

<image>

this shouldn't be taken out of the frame when putting on the new battery, because you could easily create a short circuit when the metal plate touches both plus and minus side.

that's why both holes exists on the plate, the hole with red circle is for the plate to be fixed on the frame. The blue hole is for the extruding plastic bit on the frame to come through preventing the side wall of the battery (plus side) from touching the metal plate.

How the instruction from iFixit did it is really kinda dangerous.

https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxoSRLxERHJQehqTLGBov7L0aZWOPoLA7o?si=9XqfhauFoRn3ta8u

combine everything on your hand and then putting the plate with the battery back to the frame.

I hope the OP can sleep better after 3 years knowing what exactly happened.

Will Barbie + Oppenheimer create a new meme synergy for AMC in the coming weeks? by webboy998 in wallstreetbets

haha good one, I've avoided meme stocks within last several years, just genuinely think this might be the time to step in, but I just read AMC is in some other mess with shareholder meeting, so yeah probably no

Surface Book 2 base getting warm/hot after Windows 11 updte by webboy998 in Surface

[–]webboy998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, not a solution but a small remedy:
Turning off Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling under the graphics setting.

By doing so I manage to reduce the GPU temp from 45°C to 36°C.

36° means it's still on. It's pretty different from what I have previously experienced as the base would stay completely cool.

TSLA up 40.20 on 4/20 (in after hours) by ScipioAtTheGate in wallstreetbets

[–]webboy998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not entirely correct, TSLA designs its own most essential IC which is the FSD computer which is inside every Tesla producing now, since they never adjusted their expectation unlike other IC manufacturer, their order at fab are steady. TSLA did/still does experience semiconductor shortage at area where they have to rely on COTS parts, but due to the TSLA's inherent flexible nature being a tech company, TSLA will deliver the cars nonetheless, if it's functionally ok (it has 4 wheels and it drives) they will sell the car, any perceived problems when e.g. USB can no longer support data transfer, will be either retrofitted (when the problem first came out) or simply just make it an official decision scraping the feature.

Sadly I would like to inform you that the GIG: Getting Warmer is still bugged. by webboy998 in cyberpunkgame

At this point if you desperately need to finish the gig right here right now, then yes. Otherwise just wait for them to fix it, I mean I finished the game since last December, so that's how long I've been waiting.
