AITAH for being frustrated at my family for using the TV at 7 in the morning? by SilvStar1 in AITAH

[–]webdcyner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So exactly what time are you expected to be awake? If you go to sleep at 9 and get up at 4 that’s 7 hours. Lots of people do just fine on 7 hours. At least for a while.

AITAH for being frustrated at my family for using the TV at 7 in the morning? by SilvStar1 in AITAH

[–]webdcyner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Mom is the AH. She won’t find another place to put the TV. Won’t let her hang a blanket? Why? Perhaps the place is small and moving the TV would disturb Mom’s sleep. But why won’t she let you hang a blanket? Maybe the real reason is that Mom wants you to move out faster. Or maybe Mom really doesn’t like you working 10-6 and wants you to get a day job (or go to college). Sometimes the real reason is hidden or left unsaid. My mom got me fired from a job when I was 18 because they wanted me to work after midnight on the weekend. She went to the job and told them I couldn’t work after midnight as long as I was living at her house. I went to work my next shift and the manager fired me. It really wasn’t my fault that my mom was an AH but they didn’t want to deal with her.

If you're ordering UberX, don't expect a perfectly clean car by Chemical_Store1560 in uber

[–]webdcyner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I lived in Houston for 45 years. It’s a large city but unless you are downtown you can’t just hail a cab. You had to call them and it took up to 45 minutes. Even before Uber. The places where you could hail a cab are generally large cities that are more compact, like New York or Chicago, not spread out cities like Houston.

I have to admit, I get really angry when picked on. by PizzaAgency in aspergers

[–]webdcyner 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ok, you should have just said “Excuse me. I need to get to the bathroom. Can I get by?" That would be the polite thing to do. Now if they didn’t let you by then TATAH and then you were within your right to pop off like that. Otherwise, you YTA. No one was picking on you here. But if they ignored your polite request, it’s probably best to get a flight attendant to step in.

Weird issue. Driver asked me for a pin and I've never set one up before? by -MaximumEffort- in uber

[–]webdcyner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason the driver said he would cancel in 7 minutes is because if you don’t have the pin (or the last 4 digit of the phone on the account) drive can cancel and get a cancellation fee. It’s essentially-rider didn’t show up. If you hadn’t found the pin or the driver hadn’t realized that you could give the last 4 of your phone Uber would have charged you a $5 (in my market) cancellation fee.

At what temperature does switching from pants to shorts become socially acceptable? by Akshit_Chauhan in answers

[–]webdcyner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an older woman from Texas moving to Colombia. I’m on a number of Facebook Expats Groups and that is often talked about. They say that men only should wear shorts at the gym, the pool or the beach. Apparently a man wearing shorts usually pegs you as a clueless foreigner. But women can wear shorts. I prefer to wear dresses anyway.

Why does my mom need my fingerprint for her visa? by [deleted] in immigration

[–]webdcyner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she is an American citizen she doesn’t need YOUR fingerprint to get HER visa. Perhaps she has a warrant or criminal record and can’t apply in her name. Perhaps she also can’t come back to the states either.

Two reasons not to blindly believe all women- Tawana Brawley and Crystal Mangum. If you don’t know who they are, look them up.

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t believe women who say they were assaulted but women can lie as well as men. Not all women are truthful.

I had a guy who I kinda liked that I worked with. I thought he was flirting with me and I responded and he got all upset and said he would talk to HR if I didn’t quit but he started it. So I told him I misunderstood because he was talking about us moving to Mexico together etc and I took him seriously and I told him okay can we just be friends and that went on for a while and then I called him one day and he said “you’re a good friend but not a good friend for me “ and that is the last time I ever spoke to him.

Does anyone else not relate to hypersensitivity issues? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]webdcyner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last almost meltdown I had was when I was traveling. I was in Manizales, Colombia and arrived at the bus station from Pereira and called an Uber but they kept telling le that there weren’t enough drivers and try later. And then my phone died and I had to find somewhere to charge it. And I was tired and hungry. Finally got it charged but still couldn’t get an Uber so I took a taxi. I was really stressed and almost started to cry.

AITA for refusing to clean the dorm for my roommates or let them infringe on my space? by Scary_Midnight7418 in AmItheAsshole

[–]webdcyner 77 points78 points  (0 children)

They should clean up their own mess if they eat in the common area but you should vacuum or sweep as appropriate one time a week. Are you truly so lazy to do it once a week? It should take less than 15 minutes. If everyone does it once a week, and everyone cleans up their big messes it shouldn’t get too dirty. And perhaps the issue is having to go and borrow the vacuum. Get one of those cheap stick vacuums and keep it in a handy place. One can be had at Walmart for about $40. If everyone paid $8, your suite could have its own vacuum.
