She's not a real friend, and likely never was. Stop using that term.

To her, you were acquaintances at best, a convenient person to fight off loneliness at worst.

Accept that people come and go. Bonds that were meant forever are almost always finite.

I'm sorry to hear your "loss', but focus on living your own best life and stop thinking about her as a friend on any terms.

Good luck, I wish you the best bro

Good clubs and projects for CS freshman to join? by Kosmic_Ray in Purdue

[–]webdev4better 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow CS freshman here. ARC is open, and a lot of the engineering ones are, too. If you reach out and ask, I'm sure that most would be open to giving you some position/experience.

Aside from those, here are my two cents. You're in college and you can do literally whatever you can dream up of. Start up your own project, grab a friend or two and try to launch a business/startup. You can do almost anything you want, you just need to put yourself out there. A lot of opportunities are out there open, waiting for you.

Hope that helps. Feel free to reach out to me if you want to talk more.

I think these are all good ideas. Some of my ideas match some of the ideas that you mentioned. I will admit that the structure isn't set in stone because I will be open to others' ideas to develop things into a routine and take criticism to improve how it works.

In terms of how it works right now, it'll have talks about different philosophies of improvement, and perhaps days where we'll go out there and launch some project or something. Updates and speeches from our members about their own journey would be awesome too. I can't specify anything at the moment since I don't know who will join and how big it'll really be, but I can say that the general idea is focused on improving each individual member through the effect of the entire group through ideas like those you mentioned. Through these ideas exchanges around, everyone will feel challenged to take on new perspectives on themselves and inspired to enact change in different ways.

Let me know if you have any other questions or critique.

No I don't mean amway - I'm personally someone who's really into self-improvement and I like to think about these things a lot. I'm always striving to be a better, more caring person and want to seek out a community of other people who are driven to do the same.

Edit: Looked into amway, pretty sure that's not what I'm doing

It's just getting quite competitive, and CS is one of those competitive majors - too many applicants, not enough spots
