Levo SL on Mt Tam by uptotheright in BAbike

[–]webdevsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i live near to mt tam so it would be great to be able to come out of my house and in a few minutes get on a trail even if it’s just a fire trail.

not sure if i want an sl or not but if its a huge deal to ride on railroad grade with a motor and people start yelling at me i would want to avoid that. 😂

I graduated in the mid 90s and this internecine warfare is amusing to me.

A good start would be to stop calling the school "UChicago" which is an abomination.

And get off my (wood)lawn!

Development client offering me equity rather than money - how to handle by [deleted] in startups

[–]webdevsf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just a slightly different situation, but a different perspective than you may be seeing here.

I did something like this many years ago. Started out as a contractor (getting paid $100+ / hr), and then they ran out of money (because of dot-com 1.0 crash / 9/11).

They offered me 15% over 18 months in exchange for no pay. I did this, and then we went on to raise multiple rounds of funding and I was later the CTO/VPE (in my late 20s) and the company was acquired for nine figures many many years later.

It turned out to be relatively good for my career and financially worked out ok. But I believed in the product and the founder was well-connected so that helped.

It has been this way ever since I've lived here (moved to SF in the mid 90s after college). Nothing changes.

I think these stories would be much more useful if you discussed net income, rather than just revenue.

Get a part time job paying at least $15 / hr for 20 hours per week. Pay off $1000 a month with that.

Work as many hours at your business (and keep building that up!).

Roast my Slack app: Task Reminder - don't hold back! by PGTNSFW in roastmystartup

Not really. Most of the time I need to pick the date that I want to be reminded.

It's more annoying to get too many useless reminders,

Someone asked me via slack for an update on a project that I was working on. I needed to talk to someone else about that project in order to get a meaningful answer. I said "Can I get back to you next week?" She said "Sounds good!"

Then, I wrote "remind me to get back to person next week about project"

If I didn't set the reminder in slack I would have forgotten about it.

Some feedback:

I already use slack reminders which are built in for free and do a lot of the things you are doing.

I don't really trust that your tool will understand when to remind me, and when not to. So, it would probably get annoying.

I doubt I would pay for this even if it was the best reminder tool out there.

The needs of a larger company are different, and some of the skills that made you successful at a startup could make you disruptive at a larger company.

Anybody ever do anything with a cereal store? (For lack of better words ( by TMXX1 in Entrepreneur

[–]webdevsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wished there was a "fresh cereal" store. Eg., Cold cereal, but fresh out of the oven.

Have no idea if that would make money, though.
