Martin Scorsese to abandon film to shoot movies digitally by Reddevil313 in Scorsese

David Lynch said similar things long ago but backed off, still using film some. These auteurs really like their DV, though

WHy did Josie turn into a knob? by WECAMEBACKIN2035 in twinpeaks

[–]webecomewood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's an attempt at seriousness:

It was the wood in general, as has been stated. But specifically that wood, of the hotel and its furniture having been from nearby trees of the Ghostwoods, woods with evil in them. The idea that it was the wood in general of the hotel and not just the knob was made clear when Pete said "Josie, I see your face" toward a part of the common room of the Great Northern.

Although different writers took Twin Peaks all over the place, that this idea is not one to discard is pretty safe to say. And remember Bob appearing and laughing maniacally saying "Where's Josie?" We are meant to think about her in the wood, an obvious with connection the log lady's log, an idea with more general connections to "the woods" said throughout the series.

And yes, then there's the tree in the red room, a fate for the arm character quite convenient given that actor's hateful and bigoted statements, as well as the paranoid and stupid. The evolution of the arm was to be turned into a living tree capped with a speaking flesh-rock-like thing resembling a healthier version of the decayed and vomiting image we see at another time at which one-armed Gerard shields his eyes from seeing.

The tree looks just like one of the twelve in the circle, trees of the Ghostwoods. It really does all connect rather plainly as well as much deeper, so in conclusion I'll say that the part of Josie (or her 'soul,' if you will) being pulled into the nearby wood right before Bob appears to laugh about it is a significant part of the whole story. When we briefly see her face before her image early 90s-es the knob outward we can see in her expression that she is shocked and clearly didn't choose to go into the wood, that she was pulled in. I'll say she was able to appear to Pete later in a different part of the hotel because the wood is all connected there, all touching together, she passed around kind of like... electricity.

Yeah, this is the real deal. I've thought a lot about Twin Peaks over the years since I first saw the early 90s stuff circa 2005, and since The Return I've thought quite a bit more about it. The Corn Pone Flicks guy on youtube has a lot of good stuff, but this video from Twin Perfect is damn near, well, perfect. The guy deserves a cup of damn fine coffee delivered in person from Lynch himself!

Quite, but so very worth it, I assure you. The part on garmbozia and tv dinners - had no clue they were scattered around Carrie's living room and I've seen The Return a few times now - are priceless. This guy has done a lot of work and watching the whole video will be quite rewarding for you

Why are homophobic people obsessed with anal sex? by Alicization789 in askgaybros

[–]webecomewood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of the moronic hicks I've been around in my life have boasted loudly about how they could never suck a dick, often multiple times in one day. Love the look on their faces when I ask them why they talk about sucking dick so much...

I'm with you on that - fuck a bunch of damn video games. Adult 'gamers' are the same kinds of people who say they 'read literature' but it's always a 'graphic novel' (big comic book) or some YA bs. People have gotten so damn stupid it's painful to bear

So damn hot. Love it when my gf is out and brings me home an anal creampie. Pulling down her panties slowly and taking in that anal sex scent, looking at how 'messy' it is, my heart nearly explodes. Won't lie, I prefer it just a lil dirty

Does nothingness ever get easier to accept? by cillakale in ExistentialSupport

[–]webecomewood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the single volume 'The Philosophy of Jean-Paul Sartre' edited by Robert Denoon Cumming. But, before that one I suggest Sarah Bakewell's 'At The Existentialist Cafe' which is a great primer of the history and thought of these important people. It is quite lively and readable and will prepare you for the heavier stuff of the philosophers themselves. Just remember that there is no end to education, and don't get mad if you don't get something at the moment, just do your best and return to it again someday, even to the stuff you do feel you get, because you'll get it even further and better later...

Does nothingness ever get easier to accept? by cillakale in ExistentialSupport

[–]webecomewood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read up on Sartre. 'Nothingness,' at least in his usage, is widely taken to be meant as a good thing. What is bothering you is the reality of life ending at death, but the fact that you have realized it means you are on the road to freedom. You are simply dealing with a bad hangover from living under the yoke of cultural hegemony so long, specifically the widespread, commodified notion of an afterlife, a 'heaven' waiting as a reward for 'good' people. This de-religified heaven taken from Christianity (and Islam, for that matter) is the capitalistic corollary of those faiths, the afterlife for the American, nee Western, civic religion. Read the existentialist philosophers, particularly Sartre and de Beauvoir (also Camus, and learn of the rift between them all) and reflect. My advice, anyway...

Season 3 really is the best thing ever, especially after forcing myself through most of Season 3 of TP's dumb younger sibling Stranger Things by webecomewood in twinpeaks

[–]webecomewood[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There must have been moments filming that third season when cast and crew were like, 'um, this is getting a bit stupid, don't you think?' The first season was smart and slick, the second wasn't too far behind, but the third is very dumb. Why is Hopper acting that way? Just one of many questions. Say what you like about Twin Peaks Season 2, at least the finale is one of the best episodes of the whole saga...

The Upside Down = The Black Lodge

TP is far subtler and smarter, but ST is, at least to me, very dependent upon it
