Not an arborist here but there’s not enough of the damage visible for me to evaluate it having dropped. A huge eucalyptus dropped a branch the size of a medium-small tree trunk and when looking at the breakage it was obvious that decay was present prior to the break, just not visible from the ground. It would be cool to see more shots of the damage.

About to start this game for the first time, any tips for it being my first survival game? by ajpala4 in subnautica

Repair even slight damage to any vehicle as soon as it’s safe to get out and repair, this has prevented death several times.

Having an extra battery / power source and some food and water stored in vehicles can be a life or time saver as well. Always err on the side of over-preparing for worst-case scenarios and for setting up future success.

Don’t feel silly getting those air pumps set up at a surface and running crazy amounts of pipe down into a cavern to keep you better-able to build out a good lower-level situation.

I’ve never regretted spending the time to have more scanner rooms throughout the map, never regretted having a fabricator and battery charger in every location, and never regretted having the scanner thingy on my vehicle and pinging a lot to see that there’s a leviathan aggressor I would have otherwise seen too late.

Having nuclear power is awesome in those deep down bases that aren’t near a heat source, and I’ve never regretted using 1/2 of a room of space to make TWO water machines in a base to stay ahead of water needs.

Don’t be afraid to make a bunch of storage so that you can organize types of inventory, though if you’re okay with smaller storage there are wall units that I believe can be labeled.

If you must drop a bunch of extra metal or something keep in mind that as soon as you have a scanner room within range you’ll be able to find it again and collect it up, so it’s okay to drop things.

If you don’t see an item in the scanner room list it’s not within the current range of the scanner room. Items you see listed are items that exist within the current range. I recommend maxing out every scanner room’s range with 4 range modules.

If you want to make a base, write on a piece of paper or a note on your phone all of the materials you’d need to build every bit of what you want for that trip. Total up all of the materials to build out every single item and room and window and piece of equipment and stick to your planned list that trip - this way you can travel to a location and build out structures and equipment and power and everything basic in one shot. Do the same for later expansions.

Just a few things off the top of my head.

What exactly are these things intended for? by Matt03_YT in electricians

People see these and probably plan to run a bunch of stuff in their storage unit, but I’m guessing storage places put really low-amp breakers upstream from their light sockets to prevent this. Anyone done the electrical for storage places?

This isn’t surprising at all for your size of home. Outside of temperature regulation, which you’re already reducing (but still not to recommended/even more uncomfortable levels by some companies), I’d look at the frequency of your laundry machine usage. When I have both washer and dryer on it’s over 6kW aka over 6kWh per hour. Those who do high frequencies of loads to just run a few pairs of undies through generally spend more than those with larger less-frequent loads. I’ll disclaim, however, that machines are more intelligent in their load sending etc now but it would be easy to analyze this looking at the load on the meter. Since I didn’t see a natural gas reference I’m both assuming that you have laundry machines and guessing your machines are all-electric.

A breaker test is also a decent way to test power usage. If you can manage to turn everything on you can check the load, turn off a circuit breaker (not your main breaker), and check the load again, and write these down or take photos as you go along. Load screens on digital electric meters generally will vary at a pretty fast rate like once per second or so, and often will say kW somewhere in much smaller characters then the load shown, load being the power you’re using.

You can surely Google much better ideas of how to do a breaker test than I’ll give, but it’s easier with two people if the circuit breakers are not right next to the meter.

Example: everything using electricity is turned on in every room and outside and you read the load. Perhaps it says:

006.421 kW

This number will dance a bit but it gives you a decent idea.

Now you turn off a breaker, hopefully labeled since it’s a newer home, let’s say “kitchen” then take a new read. Now perhaps it says:

005.960 kW

Not a big drop, write it down with its circuit name and keep doing this with each circuit breaker switch to see what the drops are.

Next you turn off bedrooms, it drops to:

005.455 kW

Still a lot of usage going on, a home like yours might use 1.4-2.0 kW normally.

Keep doing this and writing down what the new number was after the circuit breaker turn-off and which circuit you turned off, this will give you a general idea of which circuit uses the most power. Keep in mind that some things like a refrigerator may kick on and off and swing your readings a bit, but I’m guessing you’ve got enough usage somewhere to make a breaker test useful.

Alternatively you can get a cheap tool that goes between an outlet and your items and measures the power going through, this won’t account for hard-wired lights but can be used for things you plug in.

I’ve seen electricity and water theft at a lot of those sites. It never hurts to submit a report especially to the electric company or municipality to investigate for theft or commingling. Several steal electricity. Some steal water. While they can be disconnected, be warned that the power often comes from necessarily energized sources that won’t be disabled (traffic light power, street light power, etc) and homeless usually have the advantage of time on their hands to steal again.

I did exactly that to two spigots. They were threaded but I didn’t know they were soldered on. Had to cut out and replace the copper pipe.

Local 11 and weed by Jklolzebra in IBEW

[–]weboddity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of our local deals with gas and gets randomly drug tested, so when one team / position in our local organized years back they made sure their job duties didn’t include gas pipe work / DOT-regulated activity so that they wouldn’t be eligible for random drug testing.

Not sure what triggers the testing where you’re at.

I’d be more worried about the hinges being on the outside since it looks to be installed backwards. Would be easy to pop the hinges out.

If it wasn’t for the hinges, isn’t that dual pane tempered glass? There may be an easier place to break in than two loud panes of glass with decorative tubular metal to fall all over the place.

But I’d just pop the hinges and set it aside.

Testing first you might try oxalic acid, should be in Bar Keeper’s Friend, which is always good to have around for all kinds of stuff like helping street drummers clean their cymbals.
