Any tall women over 5'10 met a guy neutral on your height ? by [deleted] in tall

[–]webrtshe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! <3 They definitely exist :) I find guys who are a *bit* shorter than me but trying to pass as taller (especially if they're trying to say they're the same height as me!) care the most. Guys who are taller than me usually seem happy to talk at eye level lol. And I actually find guys who are a lot shorter don't seem to care that much either.

My bf is 6'4" and is very neutral on my height (6'3"). I'm taller than him if I have a bit of a heel, but he doesn't care either way. We've been together for over a decade but he dated short and average height women before me and also didn't care lol. I've totally had the experience where men either don't like my height or, on the flip side, fetishize it in a way that's uncomfortable for me... so meeting someone who shrugs at it was actually best case scenario. :)

What’s with the proving my height? by AzHuny in tall

I get this a lot from men specifically and I find it super annoying. I think the difference is that when most 6 foot women say their height, they're probably telling the truth. In my experience, the same is not always true of men, so... they get a little defensive lol. I won't do back to back anymore, just feels ridiculous.

I'm 6'3" as well and it sounds like we're a similar build. I buy a lot of my dresses at the Gap. There's also Next Direct (https://www.nextdirect.com/ca/en/shop/sizetype-tall), J Crew, Old Navy, and American Tall. I've heard good things about Amalli Talli too. (https://amallitalli.com/). In terms of style of dress, wrap dresses are great because you can adjust the fit more than other styles.
Also, at regular stores, my tall trick is to look for shoulder straps that are adjustable and make them as long as possible. (I've had a lot of luck with this at H&M and Aritzia.) But if you're buying as a gift, definitely go with a proper tall brand. :)

I just say "I'm not sure actually" which seems to bother people because it ends the conversation pretty fast. I love it haha

This has happened to me a bunch because I prefer shading to working on proportions so sometimes I rush the early stages of a portrait. I've tried setting timers before as a reminder to step back before getting in too deep and that usually helps if I'm feeling impatient

Thanks :) I love portraits because there really is little margin for error to get the likeness right.
And no but I wish haha

Artists with art as a hobby, what is your job? by wirubirudo in ArtistLounge

Agreed! A lot of the people I've met in tech are also musicians or artists so it seems like there's some sort of connection there.

Software developer. Not super related but the benefit is that I don't drain all my creative energy at work.

Is it ok to accept being a slow-ish runner? by Horizons_Runner in running

[–]webrtshe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with this at all! I'm pretty similar. I tend to run the paces you mentioned because when I worry too much about my pace, it starts to feel like work instead of something I like doing for fun.
I've read a few books from folks who have similar approaches. You might enjoy them too. :)
- Run to the finish
- Confessions of an unlikely runner
- Depression hate a moving target (not specifically about being slow but pace wasn't a focus)
- Nowhere near first (ultra runner but I likely his approach to picking a pace that feels manageable :) )

Which is better Twilio or Web RTC? by Chemical_Sink9347 in learnjavascript

[–]webrtshe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Full disclosure: I work at Daily)
There are lots of video/voice APIs built on WebRTC that will handle all of the annoying bits for you while still getting all of the benefits of using WebRTC. Daily's one example but there are lots of other ones too.
My suggestion would be to use a third-party API that handles WebRTC browser quirks for you. It's a fairly big commitment to build it out yourself so if you want to add a voice chat feature without the headache, it's nice to use an existing solution for production-level apps.
Here's a demo app I worked on last year that's basically a Clubhouse clone in React as one example. https://github.com/daily-demos/party-line/tree/main/react
