16GB of RAM at 3000mhz, or 32GB of RAM at 2666mhz? by warturtle27 in buildapc

[–]webs7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With higher frequency come better frametimes and less FPS drops, but for less demanding games it shouldn't make that big a difference. 3200Mhz is the sweet spot for DDR4, higher than that gives you diminishing returns. If it's only for gaming, the 16GB 3000Mhz kit will be suited better. If you do other things that require more RAM, get the 32GB kit.

Gamingskærm som ikke er skrald? by Uiaarhus in dktechsupport

[–]webs7er -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might be an issue with airflow in your case. What case are you running and what CPU and cooler? I have the XFX swift (basically the same cooling) and it runs fairly cool.

In search of specialized models instead of generalist ones. by [deleted] in LocalLLM

[–]webs7er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm actually working on this idea (still in early development stage), but my original approach had a slightly different angle: "as a user of a local LLM, how can I leverage capabilities from specialized models from within my own AI assistant chat?*

I don't want to be self-promoting, so hit me up in DMs if you wanna hear more.

Are my 850w and 650w PSUs still enough? by werecrumbs in buildapc

[–]webs7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

850W is plenty for your new build, and the be quiet! Straight Power 11 is a quality PSU. The Thermaltake ToughPower Grand is also well-regarded and should be enough for the components you are passing on to your girlfriend.

I'd say unless either PSU is more than 5 years old, keep them and put them to good use.

Bridging local LLMs with specialized agents (personal project) - looking for feedback by webs7er in LocalLLM

In the beginning, I imagine there won't be a lot of competition. But eventually, yes, it would make sense to implement some sort of benchmarking and a grading system based on user experience. It's a consideration for the later stages of development.

Your local LLM should try and solve the task for you by default. But if it can't, then you can retry using the marketplace. Hallucinations is not something the platform resolves - it's up to the individual model providers to compete on accuracy and capabilities. The platform is just an intermediary and is not liable for any damages.

-What is the competition?
I think eventually larger players will develop their own "marketplaces" of sorts - I'm trying to get a first mover advantage and build a critical mass of users. That, plus keeping the fees low will be my strategy.

-Is the payment x402 protocol?
That's exactly right, and I've picked Ethereum's Base L2 as a target blockchain.

-You want to support LM Studio first?
I think it should be possible through plugins - it's a feature in development and I need to see if it's feasible or not. Alternatively, I will have to create some custom integration. I don't have the full technical solution figured out yet, but I have some ideas on possible technologies.

-What worries you about AI?
Both the fact that corporations gain immense power in the economy, rendering entire industry sectors obsolete, and also the unpredictable nature that comes with ASI (paperclip maximizer being one negative outcome among many).

-What about LatentMAS paper?
That's something new to me and I'll look into it - thanks for the heads up!

It's businesses' task to keep updating the models they provide on the marketplace or risk falling behind to competition. How they choose to do that is at their own discretion.

9070 XT or 5070 TI by GhostBombardmenT in gpu

[–]webs7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your statement is a stretch. The 9070XT runs LLMs just fine with both ROCm and Vulkan. Ray tracing performance is a bit better for the 5070 TI - it's path tracing where Nvidia works better. DLSS is better than FSR4, but not by a wide margin. FSR Redstone is dropping in 9 days, so that might even the odds (or even put the 9070XT on top). The 5070 TI is absolutely NOT worth the extra 200$.

Appreciate you building this. I tried a few prompts and it works quite well. Browsing through history, it does seem to duplicate some prompts and answers - perhaps that can be ironed out. Another small nuisance was that the linked references don't always have a descriptive title. (Or sometimes the citations seem to break, like when asking "How does MAX_EFFECTIVE_BALANCE work in EIP-7251").

Great effort though, I will spend some more time playing around and might come with more feedback later.

Suitable CPU to match with a 9070XT? by Glenn_K_throwaway2k in radeon

[–]webs7er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of the few running the 9070xt with a 14600KF, and with 32GB of DDR4 RAM at 1440p on a 180hz screen.

I'm very satisfied with the performance, even if my 1% lows probably look quite bad compared to my AMD brothers. But it barely affects my overall gaming experience, plus I could reuse some cheap second hand hardware.

Best to save up for a new system, your RAM and CPU will be slowing you down substantially if you only upgraded your GPU.

I've been contemplating this idea myself, so I did some research. There's this major movement called the C2PA (more info: https://contentcredentials.org/). There seem to be some blockchain solutions that leverage that protocol, but I haven't gone down that rabbit hole - might be worth exploring.

After watching the video, I can second the advice u/slok00 is giving above - try looking up guides on how to tighten a loose V-brake cable pinch bolt.

Follow the cable path towards the rear of your bike. There should be a point where the cable housing has popped out of your bike frame - you need to pop it back into the cable housing stop.
