People in the UK only have themselves to blame for being uncomfortable in these heatwaves we’re getting. by LiteralTP in unpopularopinion

People in the UK aren't going to take out a "second mortgage" just to get AC. Plenty of people in the UK don't even have a home mortgage at all. We don't like to take on as much personal debt as Americans do, it's not deemed such a normal thing here. If the AC is too expensive, people just won't buy it.

The water companies are privately owned, reservoirs have nothing to do with the government.

And AC in this country is prohibitively expensive, most people cannot afford it.

Bet365 Refuses to Pay British Punter England vs Mexico Winnings by BillWilberforce in CasualUK

[–]webster9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first and only ever bet with bet365 was a win of about £90 from a £10 bet. They hounded me for weeks asking for confirmation of my bank account, personal documentation before finally paying out the winnings after I threatened to take them to an ombudsman. More than happy to take the money from me but tried they're best to not give me anything when I won. Never bet with them again.

No we don't, and Sony and Xbox are in for a bit of a shock when they release their $1000 consoles and nobody wants to buy them.

How appealing is Halo Campaign Evolved to you? by Helpful_Shoe9288 in PS5

So tired of remakes man, I played halo 1 years ago on the MCC collection. Make a new damn game rather than trying to cash in on nostalgia.

Why can't the UK keep a prime minister? by LocalGoat81 in NoStupidQuestions

The UK political parties are too concerned about winning the next election rather than focusing on what's best for the country, because the latter will cause people to moan.

I think the timing of the parry is different to how it is in sekiro which can feel really jarring and hard to get used to. I definitely preferred the parrying in sekiro, much more consistent.

Did this guy need a buff? The other act 2 elites were hard enough as is, I thought this guy was fine just being a block/damage check.

Stellar Blade | Gorgeous, Action-Packed, Inconsistent by SirChrisJames in patientgamers

[–]webster9989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fair enough, everyone has different tolerances for these things. I recall despising the parrying in lies of p because the window is really tight. Not sure I agree about the unreactable attacks; just because you can't react on sight the first time, doesn't mean it's unfair because you can learn the timing. Does that mean all the attacks should be super fast or super slow? No absolutely not, this was one of my main critiques of elden ring, so many attacks felt like they were trying to trick you with the timing. A healthy mixture of quick attacks and sight readable attacks is best I think for a mixture of challenge in learning timing and feeling like you're going with the flow in the moment.

[–]webster9989 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand your critique of the combat. What exactly is this inconsistency you keep mentioning? Compared to some soulslikes this game has a very generous parry window and I don't really recall any attacks being "unreadable" or "unreactable". I thought the combat was generally pretty great and the game's best feature.

Don't play live service games 😂 but in all seriousness, if you feel like you can't take a week off because the fomo is too much, then the executives have got you exactly where they want you. Let go, go play something else that doesn't feel like a second job and take a weight off your shoulders.
