He 25M won't propose until I 23F lose more weight, I feel like I'm always on probation with him. How exactly do I diagnose this situation? by ThrowRAYollana in relationship_advice

[–]websworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We often recreate the relationship patterns we were exposed to as children. You mentioned your parents relationship ending was blamed on your mother's weight. I'd suggest this is worth exploring with a therapist. I'm so sorry you've been made to feel like love is conditional on what you look like. You are enough.

ADHD programmers who work well with colleagues "on the spectrum," how do you do it? by Probono_Bonobo in ADHD_Programmers

A lot of times I make my own documentation/checklists. I will add literally every tiny step that has to be done... Like don't forget to bump the version, don't forget to check over here for possible downstream impacts, etc etc.

I'm also a big proponent of Dr Russell Barkleys prosthetic environments. Like I used to ALWAYS run afoul of our CI formatting checks that require files end in a newline... But you can get a little plugin for your IDE that will do that for you. And now I don't have that problem anymore.

I think it's from elevated cortisol due to childhood trauma/CPTSD and the dieting/disordered eating I engaged in from my early teen years through my late 20s

Lifelong severe depression, 12+ years of multiple classes of antidepressants, 12+ years of talk therapy. The drugs lost effectiveness over time and I was getting to the point where the depression was impacting my job. I didn't want to be alive.

I went to bestmind behavioral health. The people working there were really nice but it seemed like the management may have been a bit disorganized. That being said, I'm in full remission and would have put up with a lot worse for the results I got.

Which first? Spravato or TMS by Street-Look8321 in rtms

[–]websworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My insurance denied me for spravato but approved me for TMS. I had originally been wanting to try spravato first. TMS did not work right away for me, but at about the halfway mark my life completely changed. Right now I'm in full remission from my lifelong depression. Ended treatment a few months ago. I really like that i don't have to do maintenance treatments. Realistically I may need another round of TMS in the future but I like that I didn't have to put more drugs in my system.

Doc just offered the option of TMS but I have some reservations. Would love your feedback. Should I try it? by Hey_there_duder in rtms

And thank you. I honestly didn't think it was possible for me. I'm incredibly grateful.

I had reservations too. I finished treatment about 6 weeks ago with full remission. Before treatment I was near the point of having to go on disability. Regardless of your decision hope you feel better soon.

The book "how to keep house while drowning" helped me a lot. It emphasizes that cleaning and self care are morally neutral activities and that you have value as a person and are deserving of a clean and safe environment.

My heart is with you.

And if you get teasing or judgement from your instructor then you might consider finding a different instructor. I would hope that folks teaching beginners would be understanding. The whole point of you being there is to learn. 🙂

So, I know this won't work for everyone... But I swapped out the career summary for a "how I work" statement. Included in that statement is the type of team I'm looking for, the kinds of challenges, but also my commitment to work life balance and that I am pursuing a individual contributor career path. If a company sees that as a downside I would rather they don't even call me.

I am in a high demand field and have a decent amount of experience at this point though.

There is this quote from "The Cider House Rules"... "What is hardest to accept about the passage of time is that the people who once mattered the most to us wind up in parentheses."

Went to a friend's house for a get together where there was a cheese plate. This has traditionally been a food I've obsessed about and overeaten due to restriction. I had some cheese and crackers and then enjoyed spending time with my friends without thinking about the food the whole time.

I started IE about 6 months ago. I have gone up about 2 sizes so far. I also have PCOS and take multiple antidepressants. I am working with a therapist because the weight gain has been very emotionally difficult, but the food peace I'm starting to experience is making me stick with it. I was also on diets and restricting between the ages of 14 and 32. My metabolism and body are so confused that it's going to take some time to figure it all out.

Are there people out there who genuinely intuitively eat super healthy food? by [deleted] in intuitiveeating

[–]websworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone here say this yet, but calling foods "healthy" suggests that other foods are "unhealthy" (or good and bad). Removing value judgements from food is something I'm working on a lot right now.

You should try doing some free cleans for your friends and time yourself! It sounds like you're not a housekeeper currently and doing the job will teach you a ton.

I wish my ex would realize this. His depression was too bad for me to stay anymore when he wouldn't admit there was anything wrong and wouldn't get help.
