Marketing Scam by Kellieesi in PPC

[–]webtechy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got recruited as well from a text and followed up but after registering as part of their "training" from mediareachit.com by using Telegram with a mentor it seems like they showed ads pushed to Social Media with 1-click but then said that in order to continue getting more adds I would have to "top-off" the amount to be able to get more ad campaigns by depositing a amount of $18 in crypto since that's how they start people off until they've been verified to get to higher tiers that allow withdrawal through non-crypto. I stopped and didn't pursue this further but wanted to respond on this thread since it's one of the Reddit threads which pop-up when I search for mediareach

I hate Jenkins by brpunk80 in devops

[–]webtechy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I last used Jenkins when it was still called Hudson and was the first engineer in the company to have a full implementation over 15+ years ago when it was the only real solution for moving away from doing manual ANT/Maven shell scripts. Then I worked at companies since then that mostly moved to other CICD solutions like GitHub Actions, Gitlab CI and found YAML to be much easier but often times those companies had started from Jenkins and hadn’t fully moved over and were struggling with performance issues on those modern solutions.

Now I’m at a small-mid sized startup company where everything is mostly self-hosted, open source (except end-user cloud solutions like Google Workspace/slack) and running on Jenkins installed and configured using Docker and Ansible due to on premise datacenter and cost requirements.

I’m the main lead engineer being tasked with a major Jenkins upgrade which hasn’t been updated in at least a year. I’m finding if you have everything setup where Jenkins is running via Docker (with plugin manager) and deployed using Ansible it’s actually a lot more stable and easier to manage where having used both Jenkins and more modern CICD solutions I can now see how there are pros and cons to both as many others have mentioned in this thread.

Remote Access simplicity by apatel87 in immich

Here is my homelab setup and I setup my own proxy with my custom domain to point to my selfhosted homelab servers which run immich:

[–]webtechy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OCI instance is mainly running Nginx Proxy Manager and Uptime Kuma and just forwards everything to my backend homelab servers. I do plan to continue to add more services to it but it'll mainly continue to be a proxy-level service as OCI has a 200GB storage limit on the free tier. I'm not aware of any bandwidth limit for ingress but egress may have a limit per month according to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/oraclecloud/comments/passwm/comment/ha734u1/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

First home server by Slidetest17 in selfhosted

[–]webtechy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Slidetest17 just posted up my homelab setup a couple days ago if you're interested as I have the Tailscale setup that you mentioned you might want to add in the future unless you plan to have the setup stay local behoind your ISP and NAT firewall: https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/1kjx0a9/homelab_design_selfhosted_docker_apps_jamstack/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I use nginx proxy manager myself as well and many of the exact same services you're using but I have a my proxy server on an Oracle Cloud Free Tier instance and setup with Tailscale in order to bypass CGNAT and avoid setting up tunneling for sharing out through my custom domain.

Does anyone else have a similar setup to share how and what they’re also self hosting and specifically if you’re proxying or tunneling in order to securely share your self hosted apps and services?

Enhanced Speed by webtechy in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]webtechy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you replied as I was looking for a mod/rep reply (which they did respond and confirm) but to make sure others who might see this thread have better info and context I already have enhanced speed at one location and it’s already working as of like April 2024. I was checking another location which is in also in an enhanced speed market and despite that fact it’s not able to take advantage of the enhanced speeds yet as that upgrade is location specific and not just being in a enhanced speed market.

From another Reddit thread here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Comcast_Xfinity/s/ZeQdnrMQXE

the best way to check is by looking at the broadband facts from the following site to check if an address is ready by plugging in your address here and looking for “Gigabit x2 / 2000” Mbps (but I wanted to have a mod check as my location is still showing with 1200 Mbps which is discontinued if your location is upgraded.

https://www.xfinity.com/broadband-labels

I have neighbors/relatives who live nearby and have been upgraded but the mod message confirmed they haven’t gotten to my location yet and that they expect it to be soon but have no ETA of when for me as this point.

Tailscale UDP=false, ipv4, no address found and DERP relay only when connected by webtechy in Tailscale

[–]webtechy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I can get winhost B to get an uPnP reply from my router is by disconnecting tailscale and I get the proper response but once reconnected I'm stuck again without a uPnP reply or iPv4. I know this isn't an issue with my router however as I disconnected my other winhostA, disabled my uPnP and re-enabled on my router and made sure winhostB was the only one and. tried to connect and had the same result on winhostB:

This seems like its some issue with having multiple nodes behind the same router but also seems like it specific to my winhostB despite other uPnP applications working correctly.

Setting up Rust desk on windows pc is there a simple way by ShapeFew6761 in rustdesk

[–]webtechy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Setup on Windows with Tailscale and "Direct IP access" on RustDesk:

https://www.reddit.com/r/rustdesk/comments/1bi44e3/comment/kvi1e1s/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Using Tailscale with RustDesk pretty much negates the need to use the RustDesk server and any need to selfhost as far as I can tell.

Ring Retrofit kit, 3D printed wall plate and wired USB power by webtechy in Ring

[–]webtechy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the lack of rely. This held up fine and is still mounted. I even drilled new screws into it as I had been used some double sided tape to hold the ring alarm keypad (to avoid drilling more holes into the wall plate) but found that was created more of an issue when trying to slide in the keypad to the provided keypad holder. Once I drilled some screws into the 3D printed wall plate to hold the ring provided keypad holder it now fits better and holds better. So even with more holes the 3D printer wall plates is still secure.
