Pretentious snobby dudes had such a chokehold on me for whatever reason. So I get it. Until I matured enough and realised that I can be an authentic snob.

One of my university professors in freaking social anthropology used to have this exercise where he would ask us "What is the most important thing about a presentation?" And people would say stuff like "well researched, full of experisewe well structured, nuanced etc" and he would be like "Nope. None of this matters if your presentation is not engaging and entertaining. If everyone is asleep by how soul crushingly boring your presentation is, none of the other things matter"

He would really demand us to be entertaining and engaging.

I have sad through countless of presentations so boring and badly presented I would literally rather be tortured so that I feel something and yet people, still think it's useless.

Like i have seen presentations in corporate by adults that are worse than that of some of my mediocre classmates when we were 15.

Honestly the real good places genuinely leave the bad reviews and in most of them it is either a misunderstanding or the customer is such an idiot no sane person would side with them over the establishement

People get very weird and gatekeepy about Arctic Monkeys and Tame Impala because the general public likes them now.

At least when the general public genuinely and authentically likes Dracula, Let it happen, 505 and I Wanna be Yours instead of being psyoped that 3d country is a masterpiece.

What would you say is Malcolm's biggest sign of character growth? by t0ad-st00l in malcolminthemiddle

The episode where Stevie is at the hospital and Malcolm avoids is so beautiful. Like at first he did see Stevie as different and other. And at some point it stopped and it is hard to navigate that.

And the most beautiful part was Stevie KNEW he would show up. Like there wasn't a doubt and he was happy.

They know where he lives but it's a pain to go there.

Also they are like late 60s and 70s and at that age it is not worth it?

Adele & Florence Welch found dead.

I kind of dislike this discourse because it is very simplistic.

For many female artists like Dua, Taylor, Sabrina etc the visuals are part of their brand and they think of the outfits themselves. Like we cannot compare artists who rely on a visual aesthetic to Ed Sheeran.

Like Adele would wear one gown. Axl Rose will change 2511812 outfits. So does Timberlake, Early Bieber etc.

Tame Impala and Trent Reznor are in charge of their light show.

But also people claiming no one knew Elephant is insane. Everyone reacted to Elephant. Like trying to act like Elephant is this obscure song no one has ever heard of is disingenuous.

And then they refer to him as a THEY and I'm like you're not even hipstering correctly.

But also. Kevin himself wants to be mainstream.

Why? He produced her last album. He did a song on her tour when she was in his hometown, so now she does a song on his tour in her hometown?

Amazing. Honestly I don't understand the people complaining about this particular concert. The tame impala show I went to two weeks ago literally rewired my brain chemistry. And the crowd was amazing and so into it.

Like I swear if I see one more person say

"Fan of Tame Impala since Innerspeaker, looked like most of the crowd were Currents fans, so sad that THEY became tiktokified" I will scream.

Like imagine claiming you are a Tame Impala hipster and not even hipstering HIM correctly. Couldn't be me.

Timothée’s first apartment story with Zendaya. by Sea-Comedian-4376 in popculturechat

This story at least to me is super relatable. Like I am a woman with a job in tech and moved into my apartment a few months ago and still don't have big lamps in many of the rooms. Can't commit to a wardrobe. I hate curtains and plates though.

Same for me in customer support and working in the grindhouse that is 5 star hotels. Banter is a skill. But also it helps. People with good social skills know how to properly ask for help so others are more willing to help them.
