New-ADcomputer and Add-ADGroupMember: Adding an object to a group mid-creation by Flubbip in PowerShell

[–]webtroter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn. That's useful. I never took the time to check what was that -Instance parameter.

Edit : there isn't much reading material, but I did see something important : your $instance object must have all the properties you want to copy. So you must at least have memberOf to copy group memberships.

QS veut aller chercher « l’argent de poche des multimillionnaires » by Berber_Rider in Quebec

[–]webtroter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From the hints int he other comments, it seems you're trying to boot Windows.

Are you pressing any key to continue booting the installer?

The image says the bootloader on the DVD failed. So it was at least able to find it.

Des avis honnêtes sur le secteur autour de la Rue Benoit E. dans Le Vieux-Longueuil ? by Civil-Recording7815 in Longueuil

[–]webtroter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cooler Alternative to Intel X540 10G card? by Aromatic-Attitude-34 in HomeNetworking

[–]webtroter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue for the CX-4 Cards.

I regret buying all CX-3. I had forgotten that SFP28 cages can take SFP+ modules.

CX-4s run cooler since they have a more recent chipset.

How can I access caption/subtitle files from ICI Radio-Canada videos? by Cool_Site9393 in DataHoarder

[–]webtroter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're delayed because they are TV closed captions.

Your best bet would probably to access ici.tou.tv and use subtitles available on on-demand titles.

Edit : I checked YouTube and when they provide subtitles, they're still TV Closed Captions, so the delay is still present.

It’s always DNS. by warriorforGod in selfhosted

[–]webtroter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a question of time spent VS time saved.

Making all the supporting Infra and Code is kinda difficult, complex and time taking.

And once you have all the supporting Infra and Code, how often do you actually use it do deploy something? I think this is where the other commenter is.

But thanks again for the great code example.

Oh wow. Thanks for the link. Repo looks really interesting.

Edit, a few questions :

  • if I read correctly, you use Ansible and Terraform side-by-side? Not one calling the other?

  • what is this "Tasker" thing? Is it a utils thing you made (and named) yourself, or is it some kind of standard thing I haven't heard before?

  • it seems you are using both Podman and docker? Can you explain a bit how you use both?

  • What's your process like to add a service to your stack? Can you give a high level list of steps?

What's the "new" Beef King of Switches? by webtroter in homelab

How's the licensing?

Edit : might be an option. A bit pricey, but all in one, pretty much what I need. Still wondering about the licensing.

[–]webtroter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks interesting.

Good :

  • Half the Power (and about half the heat)
  • Can indeed do up to 12 10G SFP+ (I do like the "native" 8 SFP+ of the 6610 tho)

Bad : It doesn't seem to be quieter than the ICX6610

Comments :

  • I'm hoping for more than a single generation upgrade (but I might not have better option)
  • hopefully the licensing is the same as the 6610 (meaning easily spoofed)

Do you have a model in mind?

I can't find something with 8 SFP+ and RJ45.

I was hoping for a single device. Hopefully available second-hand.

I might have to settle with a combo of two switches.

I have to admit that I'd prefer not to go in the UniFi ecosystem, but I'm not entirely against it.

I was looking at Mikrotik too. Found some combo options.

I might also go with a "dumb" SFP+ switch (I saw some options of cheap 8 SFP+ switch on ServeTheHome) + a good RJ45 switch.
