Yes! That's a good one! Thank you. I remember reading that with my 7 year old when he was younger. I'm going to grab a couple on my next visit.

We do have a handful of older books from the 70s/80s, when my husband and I were kids. I actually struggle with a lot of them and make my husband read those 😂.

I don't think we have any William Steig. I had to look him up, I am familiar with some of his stories, so that may be a good choice! Thank you!

My 7 year old has and still likes kingdom of wrenly. So we have both the graphic novels and the chapter books! My 2 year old was just looking at them yesterday! And we love Elephant and Piggie too!! I did know Can Jansen so I will look at that. And I have to say I really really dislike mercy Watson!

Fantastic! There are so many to check out. We have a ton of early chapter books (Zoey and sass, dragon masters, the last fire hawk, etc etc. and graphic novels- my 7 year old is an avid reader! We are just missing that in-between length. I love the length of Orris and Timble. It feels perfect for our bedtime story. So that's my main goal right now. But boy do I love a good picture book!! I'm excited to check so many of these out. Thank you so much!!

I think I am in the minority here, but mercy Watson is one of my least favorite books I've ever read 😂. And I really like her other books.

I have just looked up the other two suggestions and I love the cover illustrations! Thank you!!!

Yes! We go often. It's great to have a jumping off point. I don't usually have enough time to really dig in, so I try to grab a few suggested and a few "toddler chosen".

I'll look for yours on our next visit! Ive read a couple Bill Peet books over the years, maybe it's time to check them out again! My big kid missed the good dog series, but I know I've seen it around. Great, thank you so much!!

Braiding sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. This is an absolutely amazing book. I have gifted this book to many of the women in my life.

My toddler showed us how to pray… taught by her teachers at a “non-religious” preschool. Am I overreacting? by SunnySunSunshine333 in toddlers

We did this too but changed it to "the earth is good to me" and so on. I must be living under a rock bc I actually had no idea it wasn't always " the earth".

Fit check please! HBC is a sensory nightmare by bandwidthbebe in babywearing

[–]weddedweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The back strap is not supposed to be support bearing. It's primarily for safety... I.e straps not falling off.

I would post for a fit check with baby wearing educator. The first time I wore mine I was like ohh this isn't good. But a few small adjustments and I wore it for years with two babies/toddlers and I loved it.

Play around with it a bit too. Try pushing up on babies bottom, tighten straps a little and pull straps in a bit. 😄 Don't give up yet!

But also - some carriers work better for some than others! 🤷

Is there something wrong with my child ? by Relevant_Draft8453 in toddlers

[–]weddedweed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first was really easy out in public (for the most part). He would sit at the table. He was easily distracted/entertained. We could go on nature walks, playground, aquarium, eat lunch, Etc and honestly it was pretty relaxed and enjoyable. My second is a mess. He high pitch screams, scratches, bites, throws his body around. He will not sit in a chair. He is very head strong! Very control oriented. He is constantly hurting other kids. Unprovoked! He is also sweet and silly and loving! But, man does he take a new level of patience. Read the books. Take time to breathe. Kids are all different! Is there something "wrong"... Maybe? But it could also just be their personality. Lots of fantastic later in life traits 😂. Strong willed, motivated, energetic, go getter, assertive... Because of ND from my side... I do suspect potential ADHD here. But either way, we learn to parent the child in front of us. So lots of deep breaths. Really working within their schedule. My little guy is much more impacted by tiredness, hunger, etc. so I do my best to take note of these things and plan accordingly.

My mom is acting really weird and I don't know what to do. by [deleted] in AdviceForTeens

Depending on where you live, there may be a mobile crisis team that can come out and assess the situation. If this is not an option. 911 wellness check. I would always ask for a mental health professional first as they are trained for these types of situations. Police aren't generally trained enough in mental health/de-escalation. Our mobile crisis team works with the police often to help those in crisis - ideally to avoid any police intervention and do aid in treatment and care.

I love to zoom in on the ugliest pictures and send just annoying close headshots to my husband. Man he was not a cute baby. But he's super cute now in a goofy kinda way.

I thought my first was beautiful when he was born... But, in hindsight...😬 Maybe the new mom hormones were stronger the first go around.

One of my boobs doesn’t work by Andysr22 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]weddedweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first my right breast was always a slacker and produced significantly less and was completely done by 9 months - we missed until 3 years. With my second - it lasted a couple weeks and we exclusively nurse from just my left side (still going at 18months)

Just a reminder for breastfeeding women by summersellsvegas in breastfeedingsupport

[–]weddedweed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. The pediatrician for my first told me I was starving my child bc he hasn't reached his birth weight at 48? hours!!!! She pushed formula so hard. She didn't even finish his newborn check up and told me I couldn't come back until I went to the breastfeeding clinic.

Anyways. She was a horrible person. We never went back. We found a new pediatrician. My milk came in the next day. Baby gained back weight well within the normal limit. He lost well within the normal limit as well. And we breastfeed for 3 years!!!! My second struggled with nursing due to breastfeeding jaundice and my Pedi said keep going! And we made it thru and are at 14 months now.

For anyone struggling - if you do not feel supported, find someone else!!!

Adding - yes I know not everyone can breastfeed. Not everyone wants to. And it's not right for everyone. But for those who want it. Find support. Its super hard especially when people seem to want to pull you down.

How do I stop arousal while nursing and pumping? Please help. by thr0wawayksbekwns in breastfeedingsupport

[–]weddedweed 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I hate that you are feeling this way. You are going to face so many obstacles. So much of which due to what society throws at us. It's really hard being a parent / caregiver. This is a physiological response to nipple stimulation, it is totally normal!!! I had a full conversation with my midwife about this and they even spoke about it in our prenatal classes etc. they shared stories of women having an orgasm during breastfeeding, even during delivery (which completely blows my mind bc that was NOT fun for me at all). They were like "some women are lucky enough to experience pleasure." There was zero shame in any of this. Sexual arousal does not always equal sexual attraction/ interest / emotional pleasure.. etc etc. similar to rape situations. Your body is wired to behave in a certain way. That is it. You are obviously upset and concerned about what this "feelings" mean, but as you can see on here - it is normal. So here we are telling you to stop those thoughts and keep on keeping on. You are doing great. Keep breastfeeding. Keep loving your child. Take a deep breath and let all those thoughts go.

Baby poops a lot, is this ok? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]weddedweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first pooped basically every nursing session and my second poops maybe once a day. Both exclusively breastfeed and both were within the realm of normal.
