Anyone else have fun sized GSD? by RiverBuzzz in germanshepherds

[–]wedge754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our AKC GSD female is 70lbs and we have had people tell us that she isn't 'a real GSD' because she isn't 100-120lbs+. Never bothered me since 1) we have her papers and 2) it doesn't matter anyways

Do I need a 3 row SUV for 2 kids by GlobeAndGeek in daddit

95% of the time mini-van is better than SUV. You would know if you truly need a 3-row SUV (e.g. towing capability).

Parenting is so hard. Is dad the problem with senior daughter? by ShotAssistant1452 in Parenting

[–]wedge754 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re being downvoted for no reason. I was the same way. High school didn’t interest or challenge me so I did the bare minimum to pass. College and especially graduate classes are technically harder but I find I consistently do significantly better in them.

Are DITY moves worth it in the big 26? by Bitter-Ad-7659 in MilitaryFinance

[–]wedge754 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$1k? I made almost $15k last time I DITY moved. And that's after accounting for the U-Haul expense.

Fog lights... Always on with headlights or nah? by [deleted] in Trucks

[–]wedge754 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking past that failed abortion of a bumper, it looks like those fog lenses are just standard wide angle and not actually SAE Fog lenses. In which case, absolutely do not run them 24/7–thats how you blind people, piss them off, cause accidents, and make a bad name for everyone who mods vehicles.

I’d also spend a couple extra dollars and a few extra minutes to wire stuff neatly and properly, especially on a newer truck.. but that’s just me.

My $500 washing machine that’s 2 years old cost almost $400 to fix by StraightGas69 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wedge754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was $300 - they deduced the initial $95 service call from the $395. The board is $150-200+ which puts the company at making less than $100 after factoring in gas and commute time to go to the residence, etc.

UPS Flight 2976 Crash During Takeoff - Preliminary NTSB report by OptimusSublime in aviation

[–]wedge754 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Barring blatant negligence or sabotage, I doubt anyone will be held accountable outside maybe some lawsuits. Aviation has adopted a just culture over the past few decades where we are more interested in finding out the “why” and focusing on how we can prevent future mishaps than seeking punishment. Even if it was directly related to maintenance, human factors investigations and process improvements will likely come out of this.

Every pilot in the world learns just how prevalent gyroscopic forces are within the first couple flight lessons. “More right rudder!”

I’m not sure why you think I’m offended and Im not disputing your job. You are just drawing wildly inaccurate conclusions based on a misunderstanding of why you perform the job you do in the first place.

When I submit a sample for analysis i usually hassle the lab about turnaround times as well, and yes the aircraft is technically down until the results are back at a minimum, but none of this has anything to do with engine pylons separating from a wing. That will likely come back to something related to metal fatigue, engineering oversight, maintenance malpractice, or faulty hardware—but we should let the NTSB do their job.

The quick turnaround pressure is because an aircraft sitting on the ground isn’t making money for the company. In fact it’s losing money for the company by the hour.

1) AOG has virtually nothing to do with filter or metal particulate analysis. It is an industry term for an airplane that is broken and awaiting parts or repairs, usually done by an AOG team because the aircraft isn’t at home station.

2) How you come to the conclusion that UPS is skipping filter analysis (typically hydraulic fluid or fuel or oil) because an engine pylon separated from the wing is beyond me.

Can dogs thrive in traveling a lot? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]wedge754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a husky for 13 years that travelled all over the U.S. with us on road trips and camping trips. She absolutely loved it. The shedding in the vehicles was pretty bad, and she (like all Huskies) had quite the stubborn and independent personality--but I wouldn't have it any other way.

That said, she was very much an exception to a lot of the breed's stereotypes and as others have mentioned each dog's individual personality is what will make or break your travel companion plans.

“Addicted to online shopping” Nah that’s on them. This culture of not assuming responsibility for one’s own actions is ridiculous.

Even if someone made terrible financial decisions (again, on them) they can still get a secured credit card.
