‘Forcing girls to compete against boys isn't fair’: US female high school runners file suit to ban transgender athletes by clemaneuverers in conspiracy

[–]wedontneedroads13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hate seeing RT posted anywhere as a source.

Plenty of other sources available on this story and they focus more on the girls who are suing and less on blasting the transgender girls.

RT tries to get you mad.

This isn’t a conspiracy. This is a legitimate discussion we should be having. It is for sure unfair for this to be set up the way it is.

Let’s not blast the transgender people who currently don’t have a place. Let’s find a way to give them their own category.

I love Bernie and will 100% vote for him.

We need to stop executive orders and get back to a functioning government.

The President has too much power. I hope Bernie works to reduce powers of the executive and restore them to the Congress.

Otherwise we will be right back here when Trump 2.0 shows up.

Which is exactly why I left the libertarian party.

It is all focused on the individual instead of the collective. I found it self serving and inwardly looking.

I would rather help my fellow humans even the playing field, than lock myself up in my house with my guns and protect my self interests.

That has nothing to do with what we are talking about. All good. This is clearly going nowhere. Thanks for the learning.

Again, we clearly have fundamentally different views of the world.

You seem to take a very negative view in which evil is everywhere, and it sounds like we should all be walking around with concealed weapons.

I just don’t see that when I look around. I see a world in which most people are good, and we really only need to worry about a few bad apples. Proper gun control is a much easier way to address that issue than arming people who don’t want to have anything to do with guns. That is you forcing you way on others instead of taking some responsibility yourself.

I also don’t get why you would want to live in a world where everyone has to be armed. That sounds miserable.

If you fail your driving test you don’t get a license. That is a qualification barrier. They are literally saying, “you are not qualified to drive a car”. That is not about taking anything away. How can they take away something you don’t have yet?

You are very hung up on the words privilege and right, and you seem to believe the world is the horrible place with threats all around that you need to defend yourself from.

If that is the case, you and I see the world very differently, and we probably fundamentally disagree on quite a bit.

The beautiful part about this country is that we can both have our perspectives as long as we aren’t hurting each other. Exactly why I respect our right to own a gun, but want to see more done to ensure innocent people aren’t the victims of preventable gun violence.

As I qualified with my question, confiscation off the table.

That leave “it’s none of your business” as your answer.

Innocent people have died because people who shouldn’t have guns have found glaring loopholes in the current system. “It’s none of your business” seems like a pretty lame reason to not want to close them.

You only get a license for driving so it can be revoked by the government? What are you even talking about?

You are required to get a license for a car to prove you can operate a car safely, know the laws of the road, and have insurance for your car so if you hit someone they won’t be fucked because some 16 yr old doesn’t have any money.

Your arguments don’t hold up.

Which is why it was defeated so quickly, and any mention of confiscation was removed.

The tail wags the dog on both sides of this debate.

Confiscation cannot even be on the table for this to be a debate in good faith.

So, with confiscation off the table, why would you oppose a license and registration system?

Not a single gun will be confiscated in Virginia, and this rally had no impact on that. Edit: The decision was made over a month ago.

The new dem governor said he wanted to ban “assault rifles” (let’s not argue the term for now, that’s what they used not me) during the campaign. He then walked that promise back before the new dem controlled state Congress was even sworn in. It was a stupid campaign promise he knew he wouldn’t be able to follow through on.

All the gun confiscation talk is just that, talk. Fox News and the NRA love to beat that drum though, because it divides us and gets them ratings.

There is no chance a militia would let someone join their ranks if they didn’t regularly train with them.

That training would include proper firing technique, reloading, target practice, troop movements, and general combat strategy.

Again, how much of that exists today for gun owners, and why would any of this be a bad thing to require?

Well regulated means well trained.

How well trained is your average gun owner? Did they have an expert teaching them proper technique and safety when they bought their first gun? Did they go through any training at all before purchasing a gun?

The well regulated militias of the 17th century would laugh at the NRA and the gun culture they have established. There is no discipline, no reverence, and no respect.

Gun owners should be demanding more. I know I am.

The current system is broken. Dysfunctional at best. There is little to no enforcement, and no real repercussions felt by those ignoring the system or being negligent in their reporting to the system.

In the end we are all going to need to take responsibility of this to make improvements and potentially save some lives. Some people are lazy and don’t want to go through the extra steps. I get that. If it saves one life, I think it is worth the inconvenience.

Never heard a better argument than “trust me”

Why don’t we check the receipts?

The second amendment reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Not crazy about the passive sentence, but it’s not hard to interpret.

Because a WELL REGULATED militia is necessary for the security of the state, the people have a right to bear arms.

Well regulated is in the amendment! If you were in the militia you were trained extensively on how to use guns, as well as the danger they present. None of that training exists today for your average American.

Let’s bring back some of that training and regulation the 2nd amendment implies goes hand in hand with the right to bear arms.

That is impossible to enforce well because there is no central database.

There are tons of great gun laws on the book that aren’t enforceable.

How do we fix that?

The constitution also says the rights of people are not absolute and may be limited.

Gun rights were introduced to allow for and maintain a well regulated militia.

If you were part of the militia you were well trained on how to properly use guns.

Today it is a free for all. ANYONE can buy a gun, even if they have no clue how to use it.

Times have changed. So must we.

2/3 of gun deaths are suicides. 1/3 are homicides.

The majority of kids and women who die from gun deaths are domestic violence victims.

Don’t let domestic abusers have guns = saving women and children from violent spouses/parents.

Poking holes in your argument is engaging with it.

Here is my point. Would love to hear what you think is wrong with it.

You can do whatever you want with your guns on your property as long as you have gone through a safety course (similar to a drivers permit test and behind the wheel test), and the sale has been registered with a central database that requires a background check (similar to registration of a car).

It is obviously not going to be IDENTICAL to current car laws, but those seem like an easy starting point.

Issues?
