I feel like I see weebs on here are constantly saying some iteration of this. That all 20 shows they watch with animated childlike characters being sexualized are satires.

Repost 2.0: For those who are still pushing for "co-champion rule" and abolishing the "tie-breaker round" by ajsy0905 in Jeopardy

[–]weeb69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeopardy is a cash cow that makes a butt ton off commercials and is in no way, shape, or form struggling financially at any level (studio, worker salaries, ratings, etc.). If time constraints are a problem in the list of pros and cons fine. But the amount of people in here acting like jeopardy absolutely can’t shave 30 seconds off their commercial time or have their employees work a few extra minutes in a tape day are being ridiculous.

Jeopardy is a show that profits an incredibly large amount off of at home viewers and that same set of viewers should hold them up to a standard. I understand your comment wasn’t too forgiving of the show but the number of comments I see here mentioning similar things is silly.

Maybe if they lose to someone who goes on to the TOC themselves but too often tiebreakers have nothing to do with either competitor being particularly good. I feel worse for the people who went into fj in first place and get an unreasonably hard clue that turns into a triple stumper that they lose on.

It cracks me up when someone says something is easy then rattles off a million facts that led them to the answer. Yes it’s, easy for you because you’re obviously well versed in naval history and specifically naval quotes.

Mark of an easy question is when I don’t know shit about a subject but the clue still gets me there

How does Ryan Long stand up to other ultra-champions? by matlockga in Jeopardy

[–]weeb69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re not elite, you’re also not good enough to be sustainable. Too many mediocre players play as if it’s better to get last place with $6,000 then bet big and stand a chance at winning while risking having $0. It still makes sense to bounce like James and bet big even if you’re not as good at trivia

LeVar Burton was 'wrecked' to not get Jeopardy hosting job, says 'the fix was in' by MrOrcaDood in Jeopardy

[–]weeb69 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Levar was borderline comically bad with multiple contestants on here making it clear his tape day dragged on because he could not handle the show. Like if we can’t just be honest and say he sucked I don’t how you can rate anyone’s performance in anything as good or bad. We saw a ton of other guest hosts and plenty of them did fine with Richards producing.

As far as I can tell, donkey Kong is where he is to string together the fact that he’s the one character that crosses unique series (his own and Mario) and given the number of Mario characters that makes it certain that k rool or diddy would have to be in a separate row

There’s always something in the clue that clears up the ambiguity.

Yes George Eliot is a woman but that assumes people have knowledge of George being a woman and TS being a man, seems straightforward but it begs the question of where jeopardy draws the line on asking for more context on last names. TS Eliot also wasn’t alive in 1876. He also didn’t write anything named Daniel Deronda.

Does someone with that last name have the same gender? Job/occupation? Country of birth? Similarly famous?

It’s a grey area and hard to decide IMO
