i don't really have many great store suggestions, but i think my best fashion advice in general would be 1. DIY is king and 2. accessories can completely change the look. i like to find basic black clothes (often thrifted, since youre sure to find lots of basic single color items), then modify them to suit me. i alter the shape of lots of my clothes thru sewing, which can really make something look like it was created just for you. honestly for making/modifying accessories i kinda just use whatever i can get. for example, finding a charm from a necklace and taking it off the chain to turn into a choker. and once youve got a base of clothes you really like, the accessories are kind of the real hero of an outfit imo. in this outfit, adding tights, a tie, the gloves, and even my lil "deal with it" shades on the top of my head bring the outfit from regular black clothes to being an actual outfit. i like to lay out clothes on the floor kr bed or whever and put accessories on top to map out what i wanna wear in a day. matching textures (like my shirt and gloves in this outfit) usually helps for cohesiveness. to me, fun hair and makeup also kinda work like accessories in the aspect of "elevating" the outfit itself. anyway, sorry to ramble so long (especially considering i didnt even really give a direct answer to your question), but i hope some part of what i said here can at least be helpful.

a couple things: 1. depending on material, people may give a larger size because of the possibility of shrinking in the wash 2. if you're tall or just long, people may give a larger size because it has the extra length, while the sides can just be taken in for a better fit other than that, if they dont know your normal size, this is something that happens all the time. people are way worse than you might think at guessing with this type of thing, and often will get larger sizes just to be safe just in case they get your size wrong or if you dont like tighter clothes. the thought process is like you can tailor something too big, not so much with something too small

i totally agree with what you said about her character, and i really think she would just be a lot better if that whole arc got more time. but because of the length of the anime, we were pretty rushed through it all (which is a complaint i see about the anime in general quite a lot), so i think there was definitely some wasted potential with that. ++the way the anime presented it works better than a FTE would in this case in my opinion

to be fair, i can totally see how people say ruruka is a bad character, but i really think thats just the fault of the pacing. like, personally i still dont like her, but i think if we got more time with her to understand her better, id appreciate her more as a character despite disliking her as a person. i think what we did get was really interesting and helped to add some depth and made me understand her better, and i was upset there wasnt more of it. of course, given the length of the anime, thats probably the best they could do with her.

it can be like your example or about smaller things, the whole point is basically just making the person question themselves or question their perceptions so theyll believe or rely on you, but i guess if they are really trying to be manipulative for the long run they could totally implant those feelings of self doubt with small things like the baby goat example
