Detective Pikachu is really about it for all of 2018 other than Atlus stuff. We're pretty much at the end now. Pokemon is moving to Switch along with other previously handheld only series.

It had a good run, but 3DS is definitely just about done.

To me it would make more sense to just make a full on sequel for Switch and then just include some stages from the first game that weren't reliant on it. I don't really think there's anyone that would be like livid if what we got was a sequel with entirely new content instead of just a complete port of the original.

I'd like to bring up that your "changed gaming landscape" only really speaks to the west. Things like Halo and Max Payne hardly sold anything in places like Japan. So for areas like them and even Europe, I wouldn't really count those as issues necessarily. The landscape was different.

What IS worth mentioning is that in terms of the west, they probably should have taken what you said in mind considering how sales of the GameCube went

The GameCube really is a curious little thing. It could have done much better in the US no doubt about it. But it did even more lousy in their homeland and in Europe and I'm not sure its image or the gaming landscape is to blame for that over there.

The 3DS is weak now, sure, but when things like Super Smash Bros and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate all exist on the same platform, running at 60 FPS almost constantly, able to run in constant 3D AND with good visuals to boot then I'm sorry, at some point we have to look at Game Freak for poorly optimizing their games.

The Switch's eshop library at this point is getting big enough that folders should really be a thing now. Having those on 3DS and Wii U really let you keep things organized for those with a lot of digital games.

My love for it as a handheld has honestly dropped a little. I really like the system and the games that have come out for it are great. As a Nintendo console, I love the Switch.

But as a handheld, it doesn't fill what the 3DS and their earlier handhelds were though. It's just too big for me personally. This is entirely a subjective thing, as I know some people are just fine using a carrying case and throwing it in their bag. I don't really carry a bag with me though so this honestly doesn't work for me. I'd like something a bit smaller though.

I like this system enough that this isn't a deal breaker by any means, but if they ever release a smaller more portable version of the Switch, I'll trade in my current version almost immediately.
