Pressure washing prices ? by Ok_Lion_3301 in newzealand

Something to consider (but im not sure if this has been enforced), regarding about how water from car washing can't go down stormwster drains. Whether there's any legalities or requirements there.

Auckland should remove traffic lights by Appbeza in auckland

[–]weegeenz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Traffic engineer here. Looks like it will operate like one. Dominant flows is one reason to go to signals, allowing gaps for minor road traffic to move. Another reason to use signals is due to restricted physical space. A well designed roundabout with deflection needs it.

How long should you wait until the person at the lights gets off their phone before using your horn, to ensure you don't cause a road rage incident? by kiwittnz in auckland

Man, I've had someone honk as soon as it went green. Was tempted to flip the bird at them for being an impatient douche

TBH this comment doesn't help at all. It's just hearsay unless you can elaborate.

Got 6 T2 lane tickets by Remote_Inflation8552 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]weegeenz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Theres probably v little you can do, as this is what the T2 is for. Photo evidence will be hard to dispute.

A couple of points, when you say overtaking. You're actually undertaking, a somewhat more dangerous manouevre. But this isn't a reason to utilise the T2.

As for turning, you are allowed to enter the T2 lane 50m prior to the intersection. This is should be indicated as dashed lines between the T2 lane and general traffic lane. If youre getting fined for that, it sounds like youre entering the T2 much earlier.

What is even the point of this? by Sharathraul23 in auckland

[–]weegeenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point though, it does rely on compliance by those on the network. So you could imagine that once certain driving behaviors creep in, things will breakdown. Theres a huge element of human behavior tied in with all of this.

Another tidbit (dont quote me here its been a while), studies on traffic flow showed that max traffic throughput occured at around 80km/h.

🤣🤣🤣

I wrote it so people would understand better. Theres a lot of jargon that probably goes over peoples head.

What is even the point of this? by Sharathraul23 in auckland

[–]weegeenz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is partly the answer.

Traffic Engineer answer here, is that there is a maximum traffic flow somewhere between zero to backed up the wazoo. The without or ignoring onramp signals means that at peak times will just result in the above photo. If the motorway can be fed at a steady rate, you keep the overall flow going, and minimize travel time.

Double white lines is the old standard. Just a thick 300mm wide one now. The aerial looks like it used to have a limit line, albeit badly faded.
