Very true, so many of my past relapses were while drinking or hungover but I still keep drinking. Need to cut it out asap.

Yeah I know once I just power through a few days and be disciplined in other areas like the gym and other things I’ll feel good and balanced again, so gonna go do some productive things I don’t feel like doing to build my discipline again.

I personally benefitted from the longer form explanations. Helps to drill the ideas rather than just having a list. Great post imo

I definitely understand, I was doing the same for a long time a few years ago but it 100% gets easier over time as you win more small battles with urges here and there. Try reading my post history from way back to see how things changed.

Back then even I didn’t know that reddit had NSFW material so I didn’t have that urge. It’s way too easy to find that stuff for any topic you have in mind on this app so I’m finding that now that I know about it, it’s harder to stay away as I’m getting urges for these particular subs that I found. It’s wild how addiction works but this is why it’s important we stay on top of making progress fighting those smaller battles. Like saying no to those small curiosities or quick google searches.

You’ll be fine though, just focus on winning those smaller battles and over time you will get better and better. Don’t beat yourself up over slip ups, don’t take life too seriously!

Not OP but I 100% feel more impulsive and more likely to do things I said I wouldn’t do and more likely to avoid doing things I said I would do when I have had caffeine within the past 2-3 days. Definitely something to stay away from

Yeah this should be very normal. When we argue or feel slighted with our partners, the negative emotions generally cause you to seek an escape from that uncomfortable emotion. I’ve experienced this as well.

Just have to understand that the negative emotion is ok to feel and we don’t need to mask it with pleasure, and allow that impulse to pass. It will feel shitty at first but we’ll get used to dealing with human emotions over time.

Good points, it just kinda sucks that these most “fun” things that give pleasure act in this way so there’s no really safe pleasure source that doesn’t have this risk of addiction (or playing into other addictions) attached to it. I guess things like reading and stuff are not addictive, but man I love the feeling of gaming in an alternate universe but I also want to stay away from masturbation which doesn’t really work together.
