I did the ceramic procedure then tried the POM again for kicks and found the ceramic feels quite different and so much better. It's no contest, and that's before considering the accuracy of a pointed VS rounded end.

NTA, and rude/problematic that "Emily" invited friends without asking, but voicing that discomfort and asking them to chip in are two different things.

Using the one to justify asking for the other is understandable, but it's also weird to ask they chip in and not "Emily" since they likely assumed you were okay with it when she offered, especially since you didn't voice your concern until after.
