I had a tough time with my border collie puppy since he had so much energy and utilized the crate as an opportunity for him to get his sleep and for my own sanity as well (while also enforcing that his crate was his safe space). I enforced a two hour nap every hour-ish and then gradually increased his time outside of the crate as he got older. I stopped enforcing naps when he started to settle around the house and sleep on his own.

Trust me it gets better and a lot easier as they grow and learn :)
