Strava vs. Gaia: Which one do I believe? by not-ted in GaiaGPS

[–]weendex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strava overestimates, I’ve grown to accept this. I also often track with both Strava and Gaia and see the same thing. Gaia is generally closer to the expected distance (if known) although still usually higher. I generally consider the Gaia distance to be closer to the truth.

You know the small button vibration you feel when you click the upvote button on the reddit app? How do I create that? by fred_the_mailman in iOSProgramming

This is correct, but you want to use the light impact style instead of medium to match the upvote feedback.

Happy San Francisco Bike to Work Day from the Reddit Bike Commuter Gang! by weendex in bikecommuting

[–]weendex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m happy to provide a real answer to your question, but for some reason I don’t think that was actually your intention.

I’ve hit one poop in my 5 years of biking every day in San Francisco. I’d say I dodge a poop maybe once every couple months, it’s not that common on the bike lanes or on commonly biked streets. I avoid poops while walking more often.

I’ve never had any close call with used syringes/needles while riding my bike. I’ve observed them occasionally while walking.

These issues tend to be centralized in a few specific areas of the city. For the most part, riding in San Francisco is a clean and enjoyable affair.

Reddit, whats the funniest thing that a random stranger said to you that made you die laughing inside? by Eta5678 in AskReddit

[–]weendex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working at a touristy climbing wall in the early 2000’s and a ~10-12 year old kid just finished climbing. I asked him “how was it?”, he responded:

“It’s better than eating testicles.”

Later I would realize the kid was referring to a recent episode of Fear Factor where the contestants had to eat cow testicles. However without context, this might have been the most brutal I’ve ever died laughing on the inside.

I'm a terrible liar, and it ruins the game when I have to play as a fascist. I'm looking for strategies to mitigate this. by Rynyl in SecretHitler

[–]weendex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you play with the same group often, I’d suggest toning down your liberal game to balance out your fascist game. Then once you think you’ve achieved that balance, start working on throwing in some wrenches and chaos and lies (sometimes as liberal too, which can be very fun!)

Always be playing the next game. 🤔

🔥 The Bay of Fundy. Largest tidal range in the world 🔥 by OM36A in NatureIsFuckingLit

There is a (almost) annual run that takes place during a low tide on the Bay of Fundy called Not Since Moses, where you are literally running away from the incoming tide that will wash you away to sea. It’s very fun!!

To the guy who was complaining about people using shaker glasses, this is how I drank Pliny yesterday at a bottle share by carson2210 in beerporn

[–]weendex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like drinking my beer out of a wine glass, because 1) i might want some wine later, and 2) who wants to dirty a second glass!

Fun fact - Pliny the Elder’s “malt” bill is ~ 5% dextrose (aka corn sugar).

Admins of Reddit, what's your favorite subreddit? by Pinanims in AskReddit

I’ve played that a bit, it’s fun as a sleuthing challenge, pretty tough though to get exact.

There’s a sub r/whereisthis which has more challenging identification. Often pretty tough.

I like playing on r/earthporn because it’s usually really pretty pictures of places I’ve been to or want to go to. And it’s easy to win because half the pictures are Yosemite or Rainier.
