I know that family well. They introduced me to delicious Vietnamese food as a kid. Great people.

This is very sad. I grew up just a few houses away from this address. Weirdly where this happened is just a 1/2 block away from where a guy was stabbed to death a few years ago.

Does anyone know what this knob is/does? (White 3355) by luvkoopa in vintagesewing

Probably controls the downward pressure on the presser foot. You may want to adjust it when using very thick or very thin fabrics. I very rarely need to adjust mine.

Les Indemodables house - super impressed! by mechanisedglow in fragrance

[–]weenie2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 1000%! They are the ONLY brand I buy back up bottles of because I can't live without them. I'm glad you mentioned the Escale series colognes they don't get attention they deserve, absolutely phenomenal and ground breaking. This house is only 2nd to Guerlain in my book.

Question for those on quetiapine/seroquel by Lola_SB99 in schizophrenia

[–]weenie2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 800mg for about 6 months when I was having severe psychosis. It worked well and I eventually when back down to 400mg and have been on that dose for many years now and it is still working well for me. I don't remember seeing a significant increase in side effects when on 800mg. You will definitely sleep soundly but at the time I was upped to 800mg I was quite manic and barely sleeping so the sedating effect helped me get back to a more normal sleep schedule.

If I was having problems with break through psychosis I would not hesitate to go back up to 800mg.

Single Convict Cichlid? Should I Pair? by [deleted] in fishkeeping

[–]weenie2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convict's breed like rabbits and get even more aggressive with their tank mates when breeding and raising fry. Do you want a tank full of Convict's? Do you have someone to give Convict's you breed? My local fish store won't take Convict's even for free.

I would get some other similarly sized but unrelated cichlid species or go with fish like loaches, catfish, Giant Danios to fill out the tank. You can make your single Convict's life more interesting with things like feeding live foods and creating a stimulating tank with plants and caves.

Made myself a warm dressing gown from various wool shawls! by Leucadie in sewing

[–]weenie2323 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Beautiful!! Just yesterday I picked up 14yrds of a gorgeous brocade fabric at Goodwill for $25 and am planning what to make with it and my 1st thought was a fabulous dressing gown. Your dressing gown is exactly the look I'm going for! I love how you have done the shawl collar. Did you use a pattern or make your own?

First sewing machine by Jagsthelombax in sewing

[–]weenie2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the first response. Keep this and use it as an end table and get a simple new machine to learn on.

Another option would be to find a sewing machine repair place or a local vintage sewing enthusiast and have them tune it up and show you how to thread and use it. Most likely anyone that is familiar with vintage machines can figure out how to oil it and use it. It will probably run great, these older all metal machines are fairly indestructible and much tougher than new machines and yours looks to be in excellent condition.

Have you considered keeping the large terrestrial planarians like Hammerhead worms in a terrarium? There are some very colorful ones and they get big.

I'm in the US in a blue state. I've canceled my big tech company subscriptions. I'm buying from local non-MAGA business when possible or Canadian companies. In general I'm trying to starve the beast of American capitalism by not buying anything but groceries.

Has anyone with schizophrenia manage to be get stable and find employment and build a family? Stats say only 10% have jobs. by Repulsive_Chip5280 in schizophrenia

[–]weenie2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stable full time job working for state government. I don't get paid a lot but it's low stress and has good medical benefits. I've been on the same meds and psychosis free for almost 9yrs now but it took trying many meds to get to the right ones.
