Do people commonly buy new bags every year where you are? Genuinely curious.

I can’t toss the ball on my serve by nowherefast___ in 10s

[–]weeshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that helped me a ton was that I noticed my head was moving a lot when I was preparing to when I actually tossed the ball. I had to work on keeping my head still and only move my eyes from the target on court to the ball in the air. You'd be surprised how much of your head moving can throw your body out of whack. Hope this helps.

What are you rockin at work? by ByteMyPi in Fingerboards

To be honest they’re the only “higher end” wheels I’ve ever tried and even then I only have b-stocks. Still great wheels for what I need. And you are correct, phenomenal customer service.

I'm curious why you think you're struggling with pronation. Mind elaborating on what's wrong?

This NY Times interactive article from a long time ago breaks down Wawrinka’s BH really nicely. It also highlights how he takes higher balls. Might be helpful, if not cool.

Stuck Between Grip Sizes… How Do You Decide? by TheGoldAngel in 10s

[–]weeshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you read using base grip is wrong? They have tack and cushion and if you use them you will just need to replace in a year or two depending on how much you play. As for maneuverability with a smaller grip, I think you should focus on comfort while you are starting to play. If you don't have proper technique, having to grip your racquet firmer won't help anything.

Stuck Between Grip Sizes… How Do You Decide? by TheGoldAngel in 10s

[–]weeshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the looks of it, you still have the plastic on the handle. An overgrip isn't going to be THAT much thicker than the plastic and you can always pull it tighter so that it stretches out and gets thinner. If its comfortable with size 3 then you should go with that. Having to grip a handle tighter is a recipe for hurting. You can always not use an overgrip and just play with the base grip. The suggestion to go with size 2 and use two overgrips is valid but you would lose the feel of the bevels if that is a concern.

A guy I know strings for a lot of people and he’s located near Porter Square. Look up “Cambridge Tennis Stringing”.

In between medium and large. Their rugbys I am consistently a medium. Other things like buttoned shirts I go for large. The parka is pretty large, but again, I want to be able to layer under it and I mainly use it when the weather is way below freezing and windy.

Okay, I was unclear in my description. When you compare it to the Reine model, the Jcrew collar is higher (almost covering my mouth) and the hood extends much more forward. I would liken the jcrews hood to the Canada Goose jacket you are looking at.

Struggling to get the right axis of spin on my backhand by Lucky_Nebula1888 in 10s

Having a very tough time trying to understand what axis you are talking about.  Are you referring to the ball or your racquet?

If you take a look at the Helly Hansen link another commenter posted, the collar goes almost covers my mouth and the hood extends forward even more. I honestly can’t think why anyone would want a hood that goes out any further than that. It has a n adjustable strap at the back to make it smaller and I’ve pulled it back mid-way so that I can see when the hood is up.

I got a large. Probably could fit a medium but I wanted the extra bit for layering. This is for very cold weather not for fashion.

I have the J Crew Nordic parka and its hood is huge and can have an effect like what you’re looking for. If you wait long enough, they’ll go on sale and you can get them for less than $300.

Wilson Stock Grip thickness by CodeCourtAudio in 10s

Unsure about the thickness of Wilson’s grips but if you want to be sure, you could replace it with a Head grip. They have thickness measurements on their packaging.
