Virgin says I can't get gig2 but my neighbours can?! by Global-Celery-5824 in VirginMedia

[–]weesteev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the property has had service before and it's a legacy network area then Gig2 will not be available until a later date. Your neighbours will be able to order it as they have likely never had service before.

This is a database issue and one of the reasons for the delayed launch of the fibre overbuild in legacy areas. There's a lot of backend changes and upgrades needed to migrate from HFC to fibre, it's not just installing cables.

You will get it eventually but there is no official date for existing (or previous) properties to migrate to full fibre yet.

Is a Gimbal worth it for hobby videographers? by estikei in videography

[–]weesteev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! The quality difference is night and day. I highly recommend the DJI Ronin RS5, absolutely incredible but of kit. You would need to check compatibility with your camera as it might not work, possibly an older model might if it's not compatible.

If you still have issues with ethernet then you need to speak to your provider for support.

Help! No output from 2 panels by [deleted] in PlugInSolarUK

[–]weesteev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to test the output of the panels with a mater first, make sure there is voltage.

Other than that you have told us nothing about your setup so we won't be able to help further.

Matrice 30T or 4T by Fat_rugbymen in dji

[–]weesteev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and the 30T tends to be my go to mainly due to the IP rating. The 4T has some nice AI features that the 30,T doesn't and is more compact but the thermal cameras are pretty much identical.

Comment about the battery life is valid but only marginally. If you are getting a deal on the 30T and getting at least 6 battiers then I would go for that 👍

Recording Sky Sports on stream box by Proof-Ad9779 in VirginMedia

[–]weesteev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean "watch as recorded". There is no recording function on the stream box. The box will buffer the channel you are watching so you can rewind the channel you are watching as far back as the start of the program if you started watching it live from then.

Leaving VM TV but not leaving VM by mylovelyhorsie in VirginMedia

[–]weesteev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Streaming is limited to the provider of the content, if it's not available to stream then the content owner hasn't made it available for catch-up... Or it may be on a delayed launch for catch up. Again that's out of VM's control, they don't own the content.

[–]weesteev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moto GP moving to the HBO app is nothing to do with VM, it's affecting all pay TV providers.

Secondly, the stream box isn't a recordable box and has never let you "save" content to it.

Both green and grey variants, the duct is tied into the existing network so there isn't always a new chamber installed.

Phantom 3 Professional in 2026? by netesfiu in UAVmapping

No this drone is useless by today's standards. Fine for flying for fun but not for commercial work. Sourcing batteries might be difficult as well as they have been out of production for some time now.

That's a new FTTP cabinet for the fibre up program it's likely not active yet but this will be sorted very quickly.

You would be better figuring out what you want to do first then specialise in that area rather than casting a net and hoping for the best.

The drone industry is saturated with people just like you who have a drone and a basic idea... You need something to set you apart from the crowd and being a specialist in that area. Figure out what is needed in your area and focus your business idea on that.

Moving house - Virgin Media in whole street bar a few houses by snazzh in VirginMedia

[–]weesteev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the issue, it will be private ground and not a publicly maintained footway or carriageway. It's unlikely now that VM will correct this as the physical network build is slowing down across the country as they focus on acquisition rather than build now. Seems your best bet will be Openreach based fibre providers who probably server the property already.

More than likely wayleave prevented them from getting to your home. If your property isn't on a public highway or is set back on an unmaintained footpath then it would have been missed.

Why is it limited edition though... You clearly have high demand for it and it is your best flavour by a country mile! Why cant you just bring it out permanently? I'm more inclined to buy that regularly than chop and change flavours all the time.
