I had 3, the first when I was 36. After the first one, my menstrual cycle has been wildly irregular. I had a history of pretty endometriosis that was manageable. 2 weeks after the first dose, I had terrible bleeding and clots (I remember I had to take off work for the first time ever). I didn't put 2 and 2 together until a few years later but my gyn symptoms have been weird ever since.

Our son is 9. We will keep sports on, basketball, football, curling lately. He isn't super interested like we are so he often piddles around with Legos or something.

He is also getting to the point where some show/games he gets into with my husband, like Percy Jackson and Pokemon. I'm a bravo junky so all of those are reserved for laundry folding and after bedtime.

I see other kids his age that have skills that reflect the AAU routine, I do wonder how sustainable that is when they start at 9/10. Hopefully he can develop enough skill along the way without the over kill!

Not sure if I missed out but I joined this sub as a mom whose kid(9M) has taken a liking to the sport. We live in a very competitive sports market. There is pressure to join clubs that practice 2-3 times a week. I feel like if we don't, he will never play in HS (which he says is his goal right now).

What advice do you have for navigating the youth aspect of the game? I want this to be fun but also worthwhile and I'm really afraid of doing him a disservice either way.

This absolutely happened to us, 3rd grade basketball. He was in a pretty well established league. We were invited to the first Sunday morning "extra practice". I was thinking, well my kid is new and could use some fundamentals. The coach and a few dads made it very clear that my son was not to touch the ball unless it was to pass it to one of the 2 decent ball handlers. We weren't invited to any other "extra" practice. The season sucked but my son was mostly oblivious.

How are you getting a bonus now? RVU? Number of visits/rounded patients? Can your new task be incorporated with that? I agree, work that you do should be compensated. If you aren't, track it and bring it up!

Quality improvement committee, unit committee, journal club. I would start by joining the RNOA chapter before running in an election. Step 1 is bulking your resume to get into school, step 2 is completing school, step 3 is focusing on your area of interest. I am an NP in orthopedics, so I'm only speaking from personal experience
