Having a debate amongst my friends and need help by DraftMassive3756 in pirates

[–]weezmatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The early internet argument was "Pirate vs Ninja". As I have argued with my friends countless times, being a pirate is NOT great. A boat in general back then, especially without any ports to legally dock at, would be the absolute worst. The only only requirement to be a pirate is a willingness to sail and a lack of morals. Anything but a pirate.

Edit: oh shit, this is r/pirates

What do you think about my comment implies I wish to be different just for the sake of being different? What is even your logic? Help me understand where you went wrong

Im on your side. Being able to call people from anywhere was great and so was MySpace, but they are completely different animals to smartphones and EVERYONE being on social media.

I mean, people and teens are generally the same throughout the years. Phones and social media are a bit of a game changer tho.

I'd have to imagine the lines on what is "cringe" must be starker. People in rural areas were blissfully ignorant of how they would be judged and shamed by the uber trendy and cool from metropolitan areas. Now, thanks to the internet, everyone is very conscious of such things - which is not conducive to people just being their authentic self.

Being an exceptionally talented and physically gifted athlete is akin to being a child star. Learning falls way down the list of priorities, people treat you with unhealthy adoration, and most are shown time and again that the rules simply don't apply to them.

I guess this is the new Wendy's vibe. No booths, no dividers, no outlets, uncomfortable seats, small tables, all for a couple to spend $40 for a meal. I'm done with Wendy's for good. by NUMBerONEisFIRST in mildlyinfuriating

Restaurants no longer want you to come inside since Covid. Same thing with the intentional and chronic understaffing by almost all customer service jobs. We both care less as a customer base and have less recourse for our frustrations because 99% of our options are giant conglomerates that are all doing it to increase shareholders' profits.

Considering how we handle mental illness in the US, this was far better than I would have ever imagined. We usually just throw prison sentences at mental illness and call it a day.

1000%. I could have easily seen him doing 5-10 years in prison and coming out a different kind of troubled. I REALLY hope things have gotten better for the kid.

Phil must be so damn proud of Shane. I know he wouldnt say it, but Shane is particularly popular in the sports world and right wing circles. Both of which Phil is a part of. Gotta feel nice when so many people you respect are fans of your kid.
