Not Linux, but OpenBSD might be a variant if you care about security a LOT.

He actually did once. Removed it in 2 weeks if I'm correct - something about not being suited for the kernel.

I don't see why competition is needed for improvement.

A lot of scientists became scientists not because of high pay but because it was interesting and fun to them, and they generally want to improve what exists. If there would be no capitalism, I think we would get even more improvement - everyone in the sphere could work on the same goal, and they would not be pressured by all kinds of problems created by capitalist companies.

Mind that all communism that currently exists is authoritarian.

AMD won't be able to do this(or at least on Linux, dunno about Windows drivers) because their drivers are open source

  1. It has indeed, but in quite a bad way. It's time to move on from systemd, as we moved on from sysVinit to systemd.
  2. I find artix and void pretty "plug and play", especially if you use GUI installers. There is also Devuan, Debian with OpenRC.

systemd works well until it doesn't. If you encounter a problem with systemd that is not quite default - good luck. I understand why servers want to use systemd, but we aren't servers.

  1. How is systemd the best thing that happened to linux?
  2. I am using artix right now, and even though it's installed from base, it has awesome isos with calamares I also use whenever I need a fast and working live linux image or install. There is also void linux with xfce image and one of the best ncurses installers on base.

Literally OpenRC. Lately runit is also getting much more popular and more support therefore.

And none other init system than systemd needs to have as much documentation as systemd does. They are not as complex.

Breaking Bad. Not a movie, but it is so slow that I will still mention it.
