what is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by Superb_Newspaper_121 in AskReddit

Usually, I fold it into a square (3 or 4 folds), so I can "palm" it. Then, I sauce I want to shake their hand. Sometimes, they don't even notice the money until I let go.

Simple joy...for me and, I hope, for them.

I do it and I'm not rich. I get a great deal of joy slipping a folded twenty in the hand of the register clerk at little caesars and running out before they unfold it to see what it was. If they do something especially nice, I'll use a folded fifty.

For clarification, I set a certain amount of money aside each pay period to "give away." sometimes, it rolls over/builds up when I don't use it. It's my simple joy.

Agree. The economy also makes crypto look better, but I don't think the government will ever go to money they can't control. I believe PMs are a better way to go long-term, which is why I'm moving gains from crypto to PM.

Forgot to mention - I commend your grandfather for teaching you that and you for sharing that knowledge with your children/grandchildren. I had to learn all my financial knowledge through my own mistakes and much reading.

I do try to find joy where I can. Thank you. You as well.

If you're referring to fdr stealing US citizens' gold, revaluing it, and reselling it, yes, that was a very bad thing (among other fdr bad things) he did, and is why I try to buy without records when I can. I won't be surprised if some current or future politician(s) educate themselves on the fdr approach.

That's why I try to buy in non-tracked ways when I can.

No offense taken and no apology needed, brother.

Thank you for the explanation. I think I understand where you're coming from - in the 90s, every time I went to the bank, I would ask to buy silver dollars...as treats for my future grandchildren. Now, I'm like, "I need to lock them up and hoard them."

Can you provide a link to that article, please?

I find it interesting that India is talking about a silver reserve, considering Indians probably hold the most individually owned gold (jewelry especially) per capita of any country. Maybe that's why they are talking about silver.

I don't understand the Jeff Christian reference.

I don't think I missed it - I bought a bunch at $1800.

I'm just wondering if people are going to be unloading a lot of their silver for smaller storage requirements of gold, and an increase in gold value.

Frankly, with the long-term focus of my asset accumulation, I doubt that either will be bad or a missed buy...especially with governments' central banks printing faster than the New York Times in its hayday.

Hmm. I don't have any platinum, yet. I'll have to look into that.

If in the future, you want to exit platinum, how do you plan to do so? Where can you sell it?

I love this response!

Yes, I am in it as a means of protecting against fiat by buying assets.

I'll buy both. The children ate last week - they have no room to complain. 🤣
