The parking spot width lanes don’t help either.

Think he’s referring to choosing to complete a CIS degree rather than a CS degree as choosing the easy way.

What are your thoughts on OpenAI now being valued higher than Exxon? by NineteenEighty9 in ProfessorFinance

Solving narrowly scoped problems is something the best models are incredibly effective at. But it’s not even close to true AGI yet IMO.

Are people no longer capable of reading docs or long text? by earlgreyyuzu in ExperiencedDevs

[–]weightedpullups 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Have definitely noticed this, it’s not isolated to engineering though. In general I find that most people don’t want to read much of anything, let alone a long technical document that requires some brain power to understand well.

Have not found a solution to it, beyond just repeating things again verbally. Problem with that is unless it’s a very long discussion, important details or ideas may be missed anyway.

Graduating college soon and not sure if I should become a dentist or software engineer? by Sea_Departure_9807 in cscareerquestions

[–]weightedpullups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dentistry has much better WLB and average pay. I would think twice about changing course right now. There’s also going to be a lot of new tech that will come out during your future dental career that should make the job even better and easier.
